I've used one before and it was always a short term fix. I know use exercise, water, and GOOD foods - lots of fruits and veggies give you maximum fullness with minimal calories.

Another thing that I have found crucial to keeping my tummy from rumbling in between meals..

try complex carbohydrates - like whole wheat breads, multigrain pastas, brown rice, etc..

I find that if I eat white rice (think chinese food) or white pasta, I am starving in an hour, but the multigrain and whole wheat varieties keep me satisfied for several hours. I've gotten to the point now where I cringe when I see white pasta or rice. I know what it will do to me.

If you have trouble with whole wheat pasta (it does take some getting used to - although now I find it much more tasty than white) start with something like Barilla plus pastas. They have some whole grains, but are not as strictly whole wheat as some of the other pastas (and taste just like regular pasta - my kids don't know the difference and they won't eat the whole wheat pasta). It is a good way to wean yourself off the white stuff..

    Good luck.. jb

I CAN EAT WHEAT BREAD WITH NO PROBLEM... I ACTUALLY THINK IT TASTES GREAT  ... BUT I DON'T LIKE THE TASTE OF WHEAT PASTA... SO I HAVEN'T HAD ANY.
ANOTHER THING I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GIVE UP IS MAYO :embarassed:

don't waste your money buying anything over the counter- If you were serious you should talk to your doctor- Just be advised that you have to be in the OBESE range for your doctor to perscribe and they would/should only give you 2 month supply and thats it and you will have to teach yourself to eat correctly and workout-
Some doctors don't even believe in them they believe in good old fashioned exercise and eating right.

The more your workout the less hungry you will get- Try working out harder drink some water. eat denser heavier foods.
I' AM OBESE  AND I'VE TRIED MANY PILLS.... AND REALLY NOTHING HAS WORKED.
THE APPETITE SUPPRESSANT HAVE... BUT IS TRUE.. I'VE LOST SOME GOOD AMOUNT OF WEIGHT AND AS SOON AS I STOP USING THEM... I GAIN THE WEIGHT BACK. :grumble:

    COMBINED WITH COUNTING CALORIES?
I'M THINKING ABOUT IT, CAUSE I GET REALLY HUNGRY

most of the over the counter suppressants have caffiene as their main ingredient...
try a nice cup green tea when you get hungry....avoid the pills...I use strong black coffee and green tea extract

I agree, Dave. I've been fighting the "before dinner" cravings this week with a nice hot cup of Bigelow Green Tea!!! It works for me!!

I WILL TRY THAT.... DOES GREEN TEA TASTE GOOD AT LEAST??

I don't add any sugar or anything to mine...I wasn't crazy about it at first (I'm not a coffee drinker, either) but it's better than coffee!

I LIKE VEGGIES AND FRUITS.... BUT I REALLY STRUGGLE TO DRINK WATER  ... I HARDLY DRINK 8 OUNCES PER DAY. MY BAD! :embarassed: I HAVE TO REALLY START DRINKING WATER... I KNOW IT WILL MAKE A BIG CHANGE FOR ME. I USUALLY FEEL A LOT OF FATIGUE AND I DON'T DO MUCH AND I'M ALWAYS TIRED. IT SUCKS!

Appeitite suppressants are not a safe and healthy way to lose weight. There are no magic pills to stop hungry or help to lose weight. If you are feeling hungry have a cold glass of water with lemon or a herbal tea. Even having low cal snacks on hand or sugar free gum will help. Your body is obviously trying to tell you something if you are feel hungry often, perhaps increasing your cals or incorporating lean proteins at every meal will do the trick.

    WATER... I NEED WATER!!

Instead of water try herbal teas. I like peppermint, ginger and my new favourite is Tazo's Wild Sweet Orange. At night I usually have a Camomille tea. Herbal teas and water are all that I drink now.

Green & black tea, coffee and Coke make me as hungry as a wolf on a harsh winter day  . So it doesn't work for everyone. My stomach's growling and I literally have the feeling that it's empty and needs urgent filling :ohwell: .

I recommend browsing the tips on: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/38576-10-ways-to-outwit-your-appetite?page=1#posts-437051
The thread deserves a new bump anyhow

Feeling hungry/craving a couple of days a month is normal, if you're a girl  - just try to catch the pattern - it turned out I binged only on those days, if you know what I mean  . Stay strong and stick to it! You can do it! :flowerforyou:

i also forgot, he has said to cut out completely: sodas-all even diet, fried foods and any fruit juices, hope that helps. i am a diet soda drinker and he encouraged me to stop saying that diet soda drinkers can possibly eat up to an additional 200 cals. per day?

I heard that before because they think they are saving calories by drink 0 calories so they eat them instead

It has to do with the artifical sweetners and how it affects your appetitte, sometimes causing an inuslin response in people.

i gained 5 lbs in a month when I tried to switch from regular to diet soda. I ate more and the taste wasn't worth it. so I went back to regular and the lbs just dropped off..but as all good girls and boy should do.... I gave up daily soda's over 3 yrs ago, I have one every now and again and i enjoy it with all its calories and sugar and taste. :blushing: we have to remember that living everyday and being happy is part of this journey, if you say no to everything, your bound to resent it and slide back.
    have a good day everyone:wink:
