Okay, but 135 at 5’9” is quite thin for a man. And 175 at 5’11” is normal weight. If you are Asian, the numbers look a little different, but I’m still concerned about your self-perception. It is normal to fill out dramatically when going from a teen to a man.
I see this as half true (no offense ^^) because you could have people at like 15% bf at 175 and someone who looks like 30%bf at 175. The latter being something around my case. And yes I was quite thin but shredded at 135. It was fun while it lasted0 -

Perhaps that is what you should be focussing on - recomp - not weight loss.8 -

Yes that Is a part of the problem. I am doing all the necessities for a clear fat loss recomposition but is not happening because of said previously1 -
well,yes, I get that you cant go the gym atm - but I'm not seeing how anything other than over eating would cause weight gain and I'm not seeing anything suggesting 'reset metabolic adaptation'5

Okay I did a check with an endocrinologist and she said along the lines of this: your thyroid glands seem normal but it might be caused by fatigue and cortisol combining to produce a negative result. She said she wasnt certain but also reccomended that I search set point theory and after I did on my phone she came back and I asked her if I could do anything about it and she simply said there is none she knew of without the use of steroids(medical enhancement drugs). This really put me in the slumps because at that point I felt like I was done for. After paying nearly $200 for a simple what I felt was a casual talk, I confirmed to myself that doctor visits were not worth it unless ill.
Anyone else able to help me out a bit? I appreciate all of the support so far! ^^0 -
People have given you help - just do the basic MFP system properly. There is no metabolic adaptation to re set.

Sometimes there is people in the world who believe there is something wrong with them even when there isn't.
You can offer all the advice and support you want but they just shoot it all down saying they tried this and checked that. Eventually after all is offered and suggested the only option left is that this person is doomed and an anomaly compared to the rest of human existence.
I work with a woman like this.
She's always got something wrong with her.
Offer her Tylenol and she can't take it cause it doesn't have the orange coating and it apparently bothers her stomach without the coating.
Her skin is so sensitive that only dove products are what she can use if you offer her free things.
Free food? Nope, she doesn't eat beef, pork, anything high fat, nothing fried very often, nothing with spices, she doesn't eat anything with sodium, and despite claiming to others she loves her beer and saying she can't wait to go home and have a glass of wine after almost every shift she says she barely drinks alcohol. She won't eat very many carbs she says and says she buys $70 worth of food every week.. which is barely anything based on cost of food here, a pack of chicken is $15 alone.. seafood is even more expensive.
She also claims she barely eats, saying she eats 2 slices of toast, a sandwich and then she has a tiny saucer sized dinner. And she never stops moving and hardly sleeps, and yet somehow she's also not skinny either.
Ask her if she got her self checked by a doctor, yep, everything is fine.
So why isn't she just wasting away? Ask her and she will claim all kinds of things that make her "special" compared to every human out there but in reality, she's probably just not being honest with herself and/or with others and probably just doesn't want to change.
Sometimes people would rather live in suffering, so that they can have something to talk about for that few seconds of attention from many people then change and help themselves in their struggles.
Can't force her to see that either, so eventually I just got to a point where I let her be, cause every suggestion I've ever given her, even with her financial problems, she's given a reason why it won't work for her, she just always wants to be in that hopeless situation feeling.

Your interpretation of what s/he posted is not at all my interpretation of it. You've been advised by multiple people that what you are experiencing is NOT metabolic adaptation; I will throw another vote that way. Your doctor has said nothing is medically wrong with you. You grew 2" in a short amount of time so for your bodyweight to increase as well should not be any big mystery. If you wish to lose some weight, you'll need to be in a calorie deficit; you walk a ton so you could either change up your physical activity, decrease your calorie consumption (hence the reference to "do the basic MFP system properly," meaning weigh/measure your intake as accurately as possible & log accordingly), or some combination of the 2.9 -

I don't think she is telling you to give up anything. I think we have to step back sometimes and look hard at what is going on. Using Occum's Razor to shave away the information that means nothing might help. When the T.V. does not turn on, you don't immediately think it is broken do you? No, not likely. You probably check to see if it is plugged in first. This IS what you can do here. It has been suggested to make sure you are weighing and measuring everything you eat and logging it. That means everything! Even that piece of candy you ate at the office. Get a decent step counter. They are getting cheaper and cheaper. Even an older model one is probably better than a phone. We can't really on "subjective"data. Our feelings don't matter for information. Use Objective data only. When in doubt have someone else look at it. I wold suggest @PAV8888 . Guy is a DAMN genius with numbers. Just make sure they are HONEST. Best of luck OP. I don't believe anyone here wishes ill will upon you. Well, maybe me. I am a little evil.. j/k5 -

Not at all sure how you got " just stop trying" from my post.
What I suggest is what I said - just do MFP properly - ie set a correct calorie goal and accurately weigh and measure your intake and your output.
No metabolic adaptation to re set.
No special snowflake reason this won't work for you.
