I deleted Facebook.

Ok, I really just deactivated. Honestly just tired of the political bullcorn and all the hate being spewed on there...sooo this is kind of my new and only form of social media now. Well, I have snapchat but I rarely use it. Hoping to find some cool people who will lift me up and steer me in a better direction.

Facebook deleted me. Oh, well.3

Yay!!! Good move dude. I deactivated FB about seven years ago and Instagram two year ago. Both of them are obnoxious for different reasons and I haven’t missed them AT All. Welcome to the fitness FB. Haha9

Congratulations on cutting the life-sucking cord! I'm really put off by all the political posts too. Most of these people on fb don't realize how meaningless and futile their rants are. Their angry little post making fun of this, that, or the other politician isn't changing any minds or swaying any votes.
There is a lot of good, relevant information here, and a lot of people trying to improve themselves.7 -
I only post on Cat Fancy forums.
.... and sometimes MFP.5 -
I decided not to delete Fb and just delete most of the people on it. 🤷🏻♀️5

Facebook and Twitter seem to be mostly for nutjobs to call each other Nazis and Communists.
"You guys think that the corporate tax rate should be at an insane 28.4% instead of the perfectly reasonable 32.6%?! That's outrageous! Die Nazi scum!"6 -
Think I have been off facebook for about 4 ears now and don't miss it at all, I hardly posted on it anyway... It just looked like it was for people to moan or rant about things.. It was when we voted for brexit too so there was a lot of racist posts... Miles better off without it.4

I rarely post on FB.... I did delete off my iPad. Does that count? I got a new phone, and I came loaded with FB. What the what......
"it came loaded."2 -
I'm still on there, at this point mostly because I live near a cute small town and alot of their businesses use social media instead of trying to stand up their own websites.
I did an election clean out the other day. I also can't stand the crazy posts.1 -

And I did watch the social delimma in netflix the other day. Someone here suggested it, very eye opening. Definitely makes me worry about the younger generation growing up in all this and getting "hooked" from such a young age!3 -
I've dramatically cut back my friend count on FB. Deleted IG altogether.1

The humblebrag. Strike a pose with one knee artfully back and foot up ever so slightly in every post. I've got it all goin' on and all figured out. I don't actually want your opinions or feedback, I just want to keep selling you my stuff, hoping you'll buy everything. Just remember I wouldn't walk across the street to meet you because you really don't mean that much to me. Send me all of your hard earned cash. You like me, you really like me. All the feels.5

It's just exhausting because you can't share your happiness or the cool stuff you're doing because then you'll be perceived as bragging and/or insensitive to whatever horror is happening in the world.
If you vent about some horror in the world that enrages or saddens you, you're being too political.
If you complain about something annoying happening that moment, you're selfish because there's so much more important stuff happening and your problems are small potatoes.
If you try to inform people about something happening (*any* kind of event), you're pressuring them to do something about it and ruining their day because they can't or aren't interested.
If you use the app at all you feel dirty for any number of reasons (sharing too much data, supporting a company whose values conflict with yours, etc.)
All I had left were the memes, but I can't even post a meme anymore without feeling judged (mainly by myself, probably).
And I have family members who expect me to know what's going on in their lives based on their FB posts. Sorry, not doing that. You can text me (but don't call because I won't answer).
I'm not saying I'm not guilty of judging. Anytime I log in, pretty much everything I see annoys or upsets me.
Facebook is just about dead. Good riddance. But I want access to all my old photos.4 -
I deactivated my Facebook in April and I have Instagram but haven't logged on to it in months, only started one to follow my daughter. This and BabyCenter are the only social media I use.1

My Space is totally raging right about now.
It's Rad !!3 -
I just deleted my family from FB... that cleared up a lot of the BS.7

I got tired of the drama and crap on Facebook and I deactivated my instagram because of all the people trying to sell everything, get you involved in a crazy money scheme or hook up because you are the person of their dreams🙄
Love my fitness pal because the people are supportive and make results and encourage one another 💪0 -
I literally only still have fb so i can spy on my exes5

I mean I would still do that if I wanted to see the *real* versions of them but it’s only the sickeningly happy online versions of them that make them stalkworthy 😏1 -
Only use it for messenger. I haven't posted anything at all in like a year I think.0

@stevehenderson776 You've got the take on everything. Caller ID eliminated hang-ups. Wildlife cameras stopped the hiding in the bushes and social media has replaced everything else.1

Psht, only my happiest online self has throw pillows1 -
I haven't deleted it. Yes there are lots of political posts, but what I've learned is that many of my friends are diverse and willing to debate cordially. I don't unfriend people unless they are maliciously racist. My friends are my friends because I'm okay with them and they are okay with me regardless of political stance.

That’s awesome. Good for you. I deleted Instagram and Facebook almost 3 years ago and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I think social media is toxic3

I enjoy FB only because of a couple contacts I still have. Most of the others were from years and years ago and I just do not care. Is it easy enough to delete them, will they know(not that I should care really)? I'll have to check that out.
It always cracked me up when peoples' friend lists reached gigantic proportions. Really?1 -
I just wanted to report that I hadn’t posted on FB in months until yesterday when one of my dogs was lost for several hours. After using FB for about 6 hours, my sister — who had been helping me and was really so wonderful throughout— blocked me from tagging her in posts. 6 hours. *kitten* Facebook. What a joke. I have enough real-world drama to deal with. But it is useful when you lose a pet.0
