Introduction

My name is Mary.

I live in Bloomington MN. I have been overweight since I was a kid. I am hoping that this program and discussion will help me continue my weight loss. My highest weight in March 2002 was 232. My current weight is 160. I feel great. I feel 20 years younger. On November 18, I will be 73.

I am a member of TOPS and have lost 70 pounds since 2002. I am 5 pounds from my goal weight of 155 pounds. It has been hard on our group because of COVID. The church where we meet is closed. The owner of the building I live is allowing us to use the party room. I have checked the room out and there is plenty of space to socially distant ourselves. There is also an area to weigh in with privacy.

I am the weight recorder and have taken over the leader duties temporarily. I am trying to keep the group together. I need a minimum of 5 members to continue the group. We have until December 15 to save our group. I need TOPS to meet my goal and to maintain my weight after goal. I have a 1400 calorie ADA eating plan from my doctor. It has 12 carbohydrate servings, 6 ounces protein, and 3 added fat. Veggies are pretty much free with a couple of exceptions for some starchy ones which count as carb servings. It has worked well for me. Something else that has worked for me is keeping a positive attitude.

I always kept my big clothes for the ‘what if’s’ . No more. I am donating my big clothes. They run from a 22 in jeans and a 3X in shirts. I now wear a 10 in jeans and a large in shirts. I am a cat lover. My current companion is MiriamTiva, a Siamese mix, or as the vet calls her an Asian short hair. She is over weight and she eats a weight management diet. She is losing weight diet too.

Any ideas on how to keep my group alive?

I'm sorry I don't have an ideas for you, but congrats on all of your achievements and hard work!!!

They say the last few pounds are the hardest to lose, our bodies being stubborn I guess. I think you're just doing all you can do, are you walking or doing any type of exercise? Being from the northland myself I know we are entering the season where being outdoors isn't much of a help, but do you mallwalking or anything like that?

Thanks. I want to go ice skating, but I will have use my hiking stick to keep balance. My TOPS group has not met since COVID-19 and I have put a couple of pounds on. I need that Monday weigh-in to keep me on track. I have temporally taken over as leader to keep the group going. I am the weight recorder. I need four people by December 15 group viable. The church we have our meetings at is still closed,, but my building manager will let us use the party room for meetings. I have 3 people and am working on 1 I have stationary bike and I plan use it when I have a space use it. Right now my exercise ball is sitting on it with Garfield sitting on top and he won’t let me move it.

Great. I would love to chat. I am trying to keep my TOPS group going. I took over the the leader duties because our leader can not do it anymore. I am not giving up weight recorder duties. We need to have 4 members to be viable. I have 4 including me. I would like to persuade a couple others to come back. The church we meet at is still closed. I have found an alternate meeting place. The building manager of my building said we could use the party room. My apartment is just a few blocks from the church where we were meeting. I am really hoping that we can keep the group active. Any ideas would be great. Hope to hear from you.
