i keep overeating (binging??) but i’m not starving myself

this whole week i’ve been eating 1,400 on average maybe but today i ate 2,100 cals and i’ve not been undereating down i’m not sure what’s causing this urge to want to eat.
i workout 4 days a week at the gym for 3-4 hours per session with cardio snd mainly focused on strength training (i take my time that’s why i’m there for so long)
so i don’t know if tate the reason why i find it so hard to stick to a deficit where before i easily stayed at 1,300 cals for months
ahhh i’m so stressed and just want to lose the last 25lbs (currently 142lbs, was 165lbs

2. What % of your exercise calories do you eat back? If "none," you are in fact undereating.4 -
After reading several of your posts, I think it would benefit you immensely to seek out therapy as it appears you may have disordered thinking when it comes to food and exercise. I would give you a hug if I could. Just take a breath and relax! You are doing fine and it weight loss takes time.23

I will give you little background on me op. I didn't know what satiety felt like for almost 2years. I lived soo hungry and had a stabbing on my stomach. I am an example of what can happen when you try to take your body places it doesn't want to go. The drive to eat is primal mother tucker. It will try to push you to regain lost weight until it feels happy. I suggest you look at what your goals mean to you. If you want to get leaner, I suggest you look at your diet. What are you eating when you graze? I suggest getting some counseling, buuittr... I dont think you will. I think avoiding the things you overeat on is an start. Wanna smack? Have an 80 calorie apple with a lean protein source. Meals... 1/3:lean protein, 1/3 starchy carb with little added fats, 1/3 non starchy carb on plate. Just a thought.

i feel like 25lbs is still a long way to go but now when i go the gym i allow myself to rst 1,500 if i want to but before i never used to do that and like i said i found it so easy to stick to 1,300-1,400 i just want to lose 4 more pounds to be within the 9 stone catagory.
i think if i was properly under eating i would understand where the urge to over eat comes from but it’s the fact that i’m eating almost at maintenance that’s why i’m confused 😭😭 maybe i’m just fed up but i’ve come too far to give up

it might be because i buy low calorie snacks like fiber one 90bars and then eat them in moderation and then all of a sudden we by t to eat them all i want to stop buying them until o reach my goals but it kinda comforts me having them in the cupboard idk why

If your sister or best friend came to you and said, “I’m only eating 1400 calories a day, but I’m working out for hours and hours, several days a week, and I don’t feel well/ I’m eating irrationally”, what common sense advice would you give them if you really loved them?
I’m going to take a guess from your photo that you’re very, very young. I sincerely hope you have people in your life you can open up to.
Practice some truly healy on yourself. Start by loving and embracing yourself. There’s no shame. You are unique, and special, have your own talents, and are clearly a beautiful - and I mean that sincerely- young lady.

thank you but it’s more 1,400cals on the days i don’t workout and 1,500 - 1,600cals a day when i do and i never used to do that and hardly got the urge to i over eat0 -

1400 seems awfully low. No wonder you want to binge. You’re hungry. Your body is demanding nutrition.
Why not bump up to 1700 a day for a month and see how it works out?
I went through exactly the same thing when I started out. I calculated 1470, and realized pretty quickly it wasn’t enough at my level of activity, and I’m old as dirt.
Don’t be in such a hurry. Slow down the process. It’s not a race. So what if it takes you six months instead of three? You’re motivated to get there. No one’s going to give you a medal at the end.
Free advice from someone who’s probably four (very annoying) decades older than you. Hard learned for me, but happy to share. Being kind to yourself doesn’t necessarily mean stuffing your face with M&Ms. Giving yourself grace is the greatest kindness.17 -
Sounds like you’re not eating enough at that much activity level. You’re body will slow down it’s metabolism once it feels as if it’s not getting enough calories for how much you are exerting. I lost 4 dress sizes before my wedding, over 8 months. Working out 5-6 days a week and I had to eat closer to 1900 calories a day and I’m 5’4” at that time I was 145 pounds. The harder you workout the more calories you must eat, otherwise you’ll be at a plateau. Give yourself a year to see results closer to your goal. To be honest it’s not until more than 2 months when you finally feel like it’s paying off if you’re doing the right plan. Speak to a coach or professional who can tailor a plan for you. Strangers on here can’t make a fitness plan for you without knowing every single stats and your info.5

1400 calories is very low. 1500 on days you work out 3-4 hours is way low. Emma Thompson said dieting destroyed her metabolism - this restrictive calorie regimen may well destroy yours. I know that's not your question - your question is - why the sudden drive to eat, when I didn't have it before? Maybe like a previous person said your body is finally saying, enough, want to get back to where I was. Another answer may lie in what you are truly hungry for. But we can't answer your question. Like Crystal075 said, talk to a professional.1

i genuinely thought i was eating enough cals that’s why i was confused bc i’ve lost more recently while eating more in comparison i tried to really restrict in july and hardly lost anything. i want to eat more bc i like food but i’m just worried incase i eat too much and then not lose anything
and i’m honestly not sure i think it’s because i’m finally doing stuff like university, work and the gym whereas i’m comparing it to when in lockdown i didn’t do anything apart from exercise
and hopefully my body hasn’t had enough yet but i still have a huge gut (most of my weight goes there i think if it was flat i wouldn’t sim to lose 25lbs since 142lbs at 5 foot 6ish isn’t that big1 -
maybe i will try upping my calories by a hundred every few weeks just to see what happens but i’ll start that once i reach 9 stone 13lbs1

Eat back at least 50% of your exercise calories. I eat back 100% because if I don't, I'm starving and at night can't sleep. I still lost weight and have been able to maintain that loss for several years. Starving yourself will lead to long term damage to your body and probably you'll end up just regaining the weight when you stop dieting. You'd to better for your long-term welfare to eat enough to fuel your workouts and do a slower paced reduction in your weight.7

You are feeding your body around net 1000 calories (1400 - 2 hrs/day average workout) and demanding that it never complain that it wants more food. I don't think that's very realistic. Bodies are not cooperative when their sensors pick up that they're being underfed. Your body is doing exactly what it was designed to do in this situation: using all its signaling tools to get you to eat. We label that "hunger".
There is only ever one good answer to the "I'm dieting and doing everything right, but I'm so hungry" question. Eat more food. Ideally, in a measured, methodical way, like "100 more calories per day" until you've got this fine-tuned and found the right calorie level. Right now, you are obviously not at the right calorie level.12 -

i just set it to very active right now and it’s just over 2,000 cals wheres before i had it set to lightly active (i’m scared incase i over estimate it bc i know that’s a common thing)
i think over the week my cals have probably evened out to a healthy amount each day1 -
and when it was set to lightly scrivener it was 1,400** i meant to add to the above comment
i want to focus of volume eating over the next few weeks and see if that helps like eating large portions of healthy low calorie foods3 -

i just remembered when i was quarantined for 2 weeks i ate takeaway food every day and was the only thing i ate bc i woe uo late and then ate it so maybe 2,000 cals a day?? maybe more
and once i started eating healthier again the water retention went down and went from 145 to 143 and i struggled to get below 145 before the quarantine so that must mean i lost weight while eating a lot of cals
sorry thst was confusing but just realised that i lost weight unintentionally while eating a lot of food.
if i increased my calories would the water retention come along with it like what often happens after eating fast food? that’s the biggest thing i hate2 -

And that in itself is a very clear sign that you're under-eating at 1400 cals.
Water retention from fast food is generally due to the high sodium content. So long as you're within the RDA for sodium, you shouldn't have that issue just with increased calories. You *may* have an initial small uptick in scale weight when you increase cals from additional food in your system and increased glycogen stores (good for all your exercise!), it will even out pretty quickly, but for you I would suggest not weighing yourself for a few days at least.
Also still really think you need to think about seeing a therapist. You must be exhausted by all this stressing yourself out.8 -

i don’t think a therapist will help tbh my relationship with food and calories isn’t awful it’s just because i’m autistic and very matter of fact and like if i plan something and something doesn’t go the way i thkught it’s stressful bc of my autism and autism we can get obsessive over a “special interest”
and i say that bc when i’m not trying to lose weight i honestly don’t care about calories and ate whatever i want irl if that made sense7 -
How many calories do you think your burning in the gym in 3-4 hours and how many calories do you think you burn outside of the gym typically? For your gym session, I would asume it's more than 100 more calories you are eating. Getting on an exercise bike for 15 minutes pedling at 130W would burn more than 100 calories.1
