Loose, extra skin

I am in my 50s and as I edge closer to my goal weight, no amount of exercise, cardio, weights etc., can tighten the skin. My age means not as much collagen and elastin to help it retract. What have others done about this. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Honestly, I think loose skin becomes a deterrent for a lot of people. Loosing weight is one thing, but it's hard to know what the body will look like once you get the weight off. It's pretty common to still not like what you see in the mirror despite all of the hard work and discipline. Some people will always have loose skin and learn to live with it. Some have it surgically removed.

    I have bits of it myself, along with stretch marks and pockets of cellulite. Water consumption can help dramatically. Casein protein and biotin/collagen supplements can help also. HOWEVER, there is not any one thing that will make it all go away.

    Thanks, GymGoddess for the tips on water, casein protein and collagen. I'll add those. I'm glad that murphy2020 asked this question. I'm in my late 60's (how did that happen?!) and have enjoyed snacking way to much during quarantine plus my metabolism certainly has slowed down.Yikes! So with that combination, my tummy at fattest is now 29" when it should be 24. " If we have a famine I will survive. L0L! So my question is along with Murphy2002's : Will gaining muscle (lots of crunches in my future?) help keep the skin from being loose and hanging down?

    I wish I could say yes. There are so many factors at play with any one individual. It's really hard to say. You could do crunches for the rest of you life and still never have visible/defined abs or a flat tummy. That being said, I highly recommend a healthy, balanced food plan (forget the fad diets/diet plans) and plenty of exercise though. It certainly could not hurt.

    Also I will be honest, I rarely do any dedicated ab work. Defined abs and flat tummy are not the pinnacle of health and well being.
