Hey there!
I'm a re-starter looking for friends with open food diaries and who are also stuck in a 9-5 office job all day or anyone with a horrible boss who makes you want to stress eat! I'm hoping to lose 20-25 lbs, break my sweet food addiction, meet my 1600-ish calorie goal all while packing a healthy lunch/snacks and not eating out of the vending machine.
If this sounds like you, please feel free to add me so we can share in this journey together!

Welcome back!
A 9-5 job sounds great. Mine is 7-5:30, but at least it's just four days a week.
It sounds like you have some good goals and strategies (calorie balance to aim for and home-made lunch). Way to go. I think you'll be successful. Sorry about the stressful boss. Bosses can make or break an otherwise pretty good job.0 -
I have a 7-4 office job. No horrible boss though!0

It's not my boss 's fault, but my job is pretty stressful.
Some of the strategies I use are to pack a BIG healthy salad every day, keep my office drawer packed with healthy snacks like microwave popcorn and mushroom jerky, drink LOTS of water so I have to get up and pee every 60-90 minutes which gives me a bit of activity throughout the day, and I make a point of using the restroom farthest away from the break room where the donuts and other treats appear so I'm not tempted :-)0 -
First things first, if your boss is bullying/harassing you, then you really need to record incidents and raise it at a higher level and seek mediation to improve your working environment. If there is no 'higher' level than your current boss, then you can do one of 2 things. 1) Challenge your boss about their behavior and tell them it is unacceptable. This may take strength of character on your part, but it's a necessity if you're to take back control of your life. 2) Seek a change of department or a change of job altogether. If you're unhappy at your work, then is it the right job for you? If you're happy with your job and not your boss, then you have to challenge them.
If your boss is under stress because of pressure from above, then sit them down and ask how best to move forward so that everyone wins. However, if your boss is just a dick, then there's no cure for that and everyone will know that they're a dick, so you wont be alone.
With respect to eating, there is absolutely no better way to manage weight than planning ahead. The joy of having a 9-5 is knowing where you'll be at any given time, so planning meals on the Saturday before for the week ahead is essential to staying within your calorie goal. There are plenty of sheets out there, but basically breaking the week down to Monday/Sunday, Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snacks daily and filling out each meal in advance. Plan your grocery shopping and batch cook what you can. I'll attach my current week later when I get a change to take a pic.
Feel free to add me, my food diary should be open, if not I'll open it.0 -

We definitely feel this pain in our office! Not with my immediate boss mind, but someone who is further up and tends to micro-manage a lot (we have tried on many occasions to follow the mediation route, but there just won't be change) sometimes you really can't teach an old dog new tricks! You can however work on changing your reaction to the old dog. Finding other ways to deal with the stress is more or less a must for me - so meditation, yoga, lunchtime walks have all contributed to helping me avoid eating like it's my last meal whenever I have a run in or just generally am stressed about work.
OP - my work stress is my binge-eating trigger, so I feel you, my base goal is 1800 calories for when I am sedentary but eat closer to 2400 once activity accounted for around 0.5lbs loss per week. I work an office job, but I am also on call out of hours and alternate weekends.
