If you are new to posting on this thread, or if you are new to cycling, we welcome you! If you are returning from a previous thread, we welcome you, too.

This thread is for anyone who rides a bicycle ... or unicycle, tricycle, tandem, etc.

Are you an experienced road cyclist? Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? Do you ride weekends? Do you spin at home or in the gym? Is Zwift your thing? Do you race crits, ironman, or centuries? Touring? Audax/Randonneuring?
Or are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? 

There are no set challenges - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group. 

Just pick the target that you would like to achieve this month and post updates throughout the month as you work toward your target. We love seeing photos of your rides and hearing all about them.

Given the current situation many of us will be cycling solo or indoors.  Don't feel alone! Share your accomplishments with us. :)

    First ride of the year with 20 miles round trip to the seafront. Trying to add in more inclines which I struggle with though still under 1.000 ft of climbing on this ride.

    January cycling is living down to expectations so far - sadly!
    Ultra painful hands and a puncture on one ride and on today's ride got soaked in freezing rain with a howling headwind despite the forecast showing rain unlikely and a gentle breeze.

    Not setting myself any hard goals this month as realistically the weather conditions will dictate how much riding I can tolerate. 4 or 5C and dry I can stand about an hour at a brisk pace, when colder it becomes too unpleasant.

    Hi cool to see a cycling challenge group. So far this year I am on 97km (60miles) and 753m (2500ft) climbing

    Target is to maintain around 100km per week through January while I am on Zwift

    Just found this challenge so I'm in! My goal is to ride at least 3 days a week, outside when I can (I live in snowy/cold Colorado) trainer when I must. Normally I ride more but I'm trying to work in some more weights for the off season

    I am super new to cycling but the exercise bikes at the gym have been the easiest exercise to do with my asthma, and I've totally fallen in love with it! My total goal for January is 60 miles, I am at 17.6 so I have some catching up to do! :)

    Managed to do 65 miles in this week and 131 so far for January, weather is dictating when I can/can't ride.

    Also spent quite a lot of time in the garage tinkering with a bike that was gifted to a friend after being abandoned outside for many years. Made up new brake cables, repaired the gears and a general tidy up and adjustment has got it back on the road again. If my friend enjoys riding after a break of many years I'll probably end up doing some repainting and also replacing the wheel rims as they are quite rusty. Wheel building will be a new challenge for me.....

    Bit of a contrast to the style of bike I'm used to!
    Tempted to ride it to their house in full lycra and aero helmet while sheltering behind the wicker basket. :smiley:

    I don't mind running in the cold, but MA, USA is too cold for outdoors cycling for me! But, I've done 10 spins (most for an hour) and 8 runs (all outdoors) in January. This is well short of my goal of running or spinning on every single day, but I got a cold for a few days (which scared the sh1t out of me, as you can imagine), so I missed a few. Also, me old legs get tired and I need some rest days. (Often, I get in a short walk.)

    A few more days in Jan to try to hit 100%, then we're into February!

    Great idea, challenge posts. I was racing road and gravel until Covid. Gained weight and got out of fitness shape. My goal for this month was just to get started on my indoor trainer and get in a couple weekend rides. Our weather has been such that weekend rides didn't happen, but did get on my trainer building a routine doing Intervals. Will ride outside tomorrow, mixture of road and gravel, hopefully 30+ miles. My bike is an Ibis Hakka MX, swiss army knife bike, road and gravel. I have two sets of wheels one road the other gravel. I have an inexpensive indoor spin trainer that I put Wahoo sensors on. Works well. Goal for riding: Mixture of trainer and outdoor riding: 400 miles per month. Happy riding to all.

    Hit and miss weather has led to hit and miss cycling.
    Squeezed in 58 miles in three rides this week and 264 for January.
