No more weeping into a family size tub of ice-cream!

These NSV's are funny little things aren't they. The strangest moment can have you thinking, "Wow, two months ago I would have been a different person in this very same situation!"

About an hour ago I logged onto facebook to find a message from my ex-boyfriend (we split up about two months ago). And although I was the one to end things, I still got very weepy thinking about old times and how nothing is the same anymore. Two months ago (before I got my *kitten* in gear and logged back into MFP for the first time in 6 months) I would have used those tears as an excuse to go to the shop, buy a family sized tub of ice-cream, brought it home, and guzzled the entire lot. Today, I wiped away those tears, chucked on my workout gear, strapped on my arm weights, and smashed out 20 minutes on the rowing machine. And now I feel ten times better than I would've if I'd eaten ice-cream, and I have confirmed to myself that the break up was the best thing for my health as well as my sanity!!

I'm even smiling as I look at the blisters that this rowing machine has given me on my hands, with the knowledge that I'm finally in control of my emotional eating=]

Anyone else experience an amazing NSV this week??

I know exactly what you mean. A year ago, if I was upset, I would have used it as an excuse to eat mcdonalds, or doritos, or some other junk. These days if i'm upset, I run. I wouldn't even consider mcdonalds to 'cure' the blues. It's a great feeling.

I had a successful battle with a sugar craving yesterday! At work we have candy at our checkouts, and normally the sugar craving hits and you buy one, i resisted and went and grabbed a carrot I had brought instead!

Good for you!! I was stressed yesterday at work and wanted chocolate but instead I got up from my desk and took a walk. I kept thinking to myself, chocolate was not going to fix anything but walking would.

    What does NVS mean?

I wanted ice cream last night so I got the tiny small size of it. It only had 220 calories this thing was tiny! I didn't even want to finish it. Once I got over the craving for sugar I was done with it. I normally could have eaten a size so much bigger and had all of it in the past!

Oh and I'm up to 9 pounds in two weeks. My first small goal was 10 pounds in 3 weeks. I think I can do it!

I set small goals on my way to my big goal. :)
