Intermittent fasting post bulking

Been bulking and gyming consistently for a while, gained a lot of extra muscle and fat. Thinking about transitioning directly into intermittent fasting to lose fat ( training maybe only one or two days a week). Think this might be the quickest way VS new way to cut. Thoughts?

    IF makes it easier to keep your calories on target. For me, I like bigger meals at meal time but I will still need to count my calorie intake.

    Reducing your calorie intake is how you cut. Regardless of what approach you use.

    Why are you thinking of training only one or two days a week?
    Are you trying to lose some of the muscle you gained or some other reason?

    BTW - quickest way of cutting may well not be the best way of cutting.

    if IF makes you get into a consistent calorie deficit then go for it, but it is not some magical fat burning process that will melt fat off more quickly than a regular cut with a 250 to 500 cal deficit...

    Exactly this, your resistance training is equally as important in maintaining your muscle mass in a
    deficit as it was in gaining the muscle in the first place

    IF should not impact your weight training as you are still consuming x amount of calories you are just spacing them out based on your timing 16 hours fasting/8 hours eating ...

    I did IF a while back and I was lifting four times a week plus doing some cardio ...

    I train for powerlifting 5 days a week while IFing (which just means skipping breakfast, for me).

    it was skipping breakfast and lunch for me with eating window in evenings...that is why I gave it up, trying to cram all that food into an evening window was too much for me...

    Well you priorities are your own but I do think that's a bit strange given IF gives no advance in cutting over the same calorie allowance spread over the day unless it's a personal adherance factor.
    Maybe you should try training during your non-eating periods, you might find that it's less of an issue than you think?

    Thanks, I'll give it a go.

    Genuinely feel like my strength will take a big hit. Also I train before work, so keeping up energy post training while IFing will be interesting. Never shy to try new things.

    As well to answer your question, yes it's a personal preference.
