Half Marathon Distance

Wow, so..... I did it. I got out there and just did it. Why? Because I've been wanting to. Didn't sign up for a race, didn't carry buckets of gatorade or sports beans, just drank my usual cup of joe and ate a bowl of Total, and then... did it.

Not an amazing time, 10 minute miles, but I finished strong and felt like I could have kept going if I would have replenished some electrolytes.

Woot for me, I pushed past my comfort zone (only ran a couple 8-10 milers this summer) and worked on my pace to make it to the end.

Not too shabby! Keep at your goals, and those little nagging things in the back of your brain that you think, "Someday, I'mma DO this," well, keep working towards it, and then one morning just wake up and DO it.

And then do it again.

Yep. Nothing better than setting a goal, working hard to achieve it, and then doing it. Good for you. Be careful, though. HM are addictive.

    Nice Job!

Its definitely OK to do a half without all the sports nutrition stuff... especially on a cool day if you've eaten properly the night before and had a proper breakfast. I find I start to slow down near the 10 mile mark without taking anything anything at all but one gel is enough and two are ample.

Don't try for a full marathon though!!!
  • Congradulations! Sometimes our best accomplishments are done without all the fanfare and build up. Running 13.1 miles on your own is a HUGE deal!
