I am scheduled to have the ESG on May 3, 2019 and am looking for others with whom to share and support.

Oh, see the date - that was 2019. Poor member, didn't get any support from this post!
It caught my eye as a work colleague has just had a stomach reduction operation. In her case, they cut some the stomach away. Quite drastic really, I hope it was thoroughly discussed and all options considered. I know some people just need this sort of thing.
I'm nervous about it (for her) as my father had an ulcer which meant 2/3rds of his stomach was removed after the ulcer ruptured. It was life and death situation for him, he nearly died. He was probably in his 50s, and never had the same strength after that as he couldn't eat very much.

I had ESG on Jan 28th 2021 and I do not regret it. Im young and healthy (no comorbidities), however I am substantially overweight (starting BMI of 44). The ESG was minimally invasive, I could get up and walk around almost immediately following the procedure. Very little pain, but enough discomfort in the early days to warrant real change in my relationship with food. I'm now 34 days post procedure and I am down 18lbs, have a new appetite that allows me to really focus on fueling foods rather than giving into temptations. I don't have the intense cravings I had before ESG, and yet I feel fueled and nourished with my meals. Everyone reacts differently to weight loss procedures, so it is smart to talk to doctors before you make a final decision. After care is also vital, meeting with a weight loss therapist weekly and a registered dietician regularly. And just so it is clear, as soon as I was cleared to do so I resumed an intense workout regime. It is hard work, not a quick fix, but after years of dieting with little to no result, ESG helped me get to a weight I haven't been in 6 years (and I'm just getting started)!
