can I ask what your calorie intake is/was? Did you slowly lower it? I'm walking 5km a day and eating between 1250-1500 calories a day. Still losing pretty good.. 10-12 pounds a month. Afraid of lowering my calories more in case i do metabolic damage. But sure would be nice to lose weight faster.

That was pretty much it. After my body got used to walking for an hour or a full 5k, I worked on having at least three workouts a week where I just walked until I burned at least 1000 calories and then did a much easier walk the next day.

Wow. Thank you for sharing your success! Some days when it seems like I'll never get to goal, something like this pops up and give me more motivation and patience. Good to know that you didn't need anything except this app and some good walking shoes to get started. I began a walking routine in December and I'm hooked now, 60 - 90 minutes per day, most days. This week I've added in bicycle rides as well.

Again, thank you, and good luck on the body recomp, please be sure and post pics.

Also on the same path here (except starting out much larger), that's 2 super inspiring posts in short order. I very much appreciate the effort you made to share your story.

I'm a little miffed, as I just realized the other day, that since my Fiance lost her phone last week, I don't think I'll have any decent before picture to show anyone down the road. Which sort of sucks.

Anyway, thanks again and congratulations on all your hard work.

Hugely inspiring. Thank you so much. I do sometimes feel intimidated by the specialist and technical talk around weight loss, and life would be intolerable if I thought I’d never eat another carb. Your story is so relatable, you used the available resources and quietly got on with it. You look amazing. I walk every day and I know that it will help me, but I have some health issues that make it painful right now. I have to remind myself how much easier it will be when I’m not carrying a third excess body weight, I’m kind of using the pain to remember the issue. I am absolutely sure that some days at the beginning your walk around the lake would have been painful and difficult. You got there, and now your story will help me and loads of others get there too.
    Congratulations, be super proud.

it must be like kicking a very strong addiction.

That’s exactly what it feels like! I quit smoking about a year before my journey and the way I felt during my first week was almost identical to how I felt during my first three weeks of nicotine withdrawals. I was sad and miserable for 5-7 days and it felt like it was always going to be that way. Then a few days later I felt so much better!

If Andy Dufresne can escape Shawshank through time and pressure, then surely you can kick a habit the same way?

The transformation is astonishing! And all the more so because 2020 was a pretty terrible year. Did it help to be at home and not tempted by eating out or with friends/co-workers? I, too, an amazed that your skin is so taut. Keep up the good work!
