Injury

Hi Guys my name is Rob I'm from scotland was using my fitness pal with much success loosing half a stone in a like 3 weeks. I have since had a major injury falling 20 feet from a ladder and fracturing my spine it was a bad injury and a big opp. However I'm going to make a full recovery o lost more weight so currently I'm down from 16.9 initially to now 15.7 I want to get to 14 or lower. Can someone advise best approach I'm trying the 16/8 fast see how it goes but any recommendations would be awesome.

    Hi Rob.
Glad you will make a full recovery - must have been terrifying.

The best approach is going to be individual and that's where you need a serious think about your strengths, weaknesses and preferences.
Adherence is of course a priority and that's personal but try to avoid the common mistake of making a hard job even harder and more hateful than it has to be!
16:8 fasting is a good example - suits some people and makes sticking to their calorie allowance easier, doesn't suit others and makes dieting harder.

Your recovery from a serious injury will of course influence your exercise choices and hope you got some good guidance on your rehab. As a generalisation some cardio and some strength training is ideal but in a blend that matches your goals and, in your case especially, your capabilities.

Would say though that as you are still recovering and don't have much to lose chose a modest rate of weight loss.

The only advice I can give is choose a way of eating that you can stick to indefinitely... otherwise what’s the point? A lot of these fad ways of eating seem tempting because of the quick initial weight loss but are you going to eat like that forever? If you’re not then you might find yourself back at square 1 when you go back to eating ‘normally’.... I’ve seen it a million times and have been there myself. Just my thoughts. Wishing you a speedy recovery 😁

Be sure to involve your doctor and rehab team in your plan. Your focus right now should be recovery!
