should I loose 1 lbs or 2 lbs a week?

What’s your goal weight? You could go for 2 pounds per week if you have a lot to lose (in the beginning). But it’s always good to go slow and easy if you want long term results.2

Why not split the difference. Go for 1.5 to start. See how it goes. Eat back your exercise calories. That’s pretty aggressive. You may want to drop back to 1 pound. But try it! Then you’ll know.

For ~60 pounds to lose your top speed should be 1.5lbs per week. After you lose 20-25 pounds you should drop to 1 pound per week.
That is not to say you should start at 1.5 pounds per week though. If you have been actively gaining weight you might want to log for a week at "maintaining" then try a deficit. If you have been mostly weight stable then you could start with a partial or full deficit.
At 1.5 pounds per week your total deficit is 750 calories per day so the other thing to keep in mind is that if you eat "over" your calorie amount by 250 you are still losing weight, just less than your target number. This information can be quite helpful if, in the beginning, you are working out how to control your hunger. It can give you the freedom to eat a little more if the eating strategy for a day has not gone well and you are still very hungry. It is not a good idea to be miserable.5 -
