I know we all love to see the numbers on the scale go down each week but seriously in the end who really gives a crap about the final number on the scale when you add up all the amazing non scale victories we all achieve each and every day????
I have decided to start CELEBRATING NSVs more often than the stupid ones on the scale since mine is not moving in the correct direction right now.....so please share your NSVs as they happen or even think back during your journey and share what you remember and how you felt when you reached that VICTORY!!!!
i'll start...i have already posted about this but i noticed it even more today when i got out of the shower....i can now fully wrap a regular standard sized bathroom towel around my body...there are absolutely no gaps, actually the towel overlays itself at least 5-6 inches at the top and maybe 2-4 inches at the middle and bottom...this feels amazing...i could walk out of the bathroom in front of non family if needed and not be exposed at all......
please share yours....

On Friday I sat in a camping chair that I haven't been in for 3 months. I thought the chair felt bigger, but it was my butt is now smaller. That was a good feeling.0

Mine was that I could put on my jeans without squirming, wiggling or getting extra help from my fiance to put them on.0

Going to the gap and trying on size 10 skinny jeans with no muffin top!!0
-
My NSV... skinny jeans! The look on my face in the first one says it all....

I was acting as game show hostess at our little charity auction and someone told me after that I look fantastic!0
-
NSV 1 - My legs don't feel like lead anymore.
NSV 2 - Boobs and belly are not one thing anymore!
NSV 3 - I see a difference in photos I took 2 weeks ago and again yesterday.
NSV 4 - Grey cargo pants fit without hurting me!
NSV 5 - My stomach is now okay with smaller portions!0 -
This morning while getting dressed, put on the only clean shorts I had in the closet. Fitted nicely and then realizing they are a size 16. When I started my journey 8 months ago, I was in a size 28.0

I wanna do that too and I will. Going for Levi's 501 though....0

I had my first NSV yesterday, it was fitting into one size smaller jeans!!! It helped me set my first mini goal of 15 pounds by Halloween.0

My recent NSV was making it all the way across the monkey bars at the playground by our house. When I first tried them (about a year ago), I couldn't even hang on with two hands, let alone make it to the next bar! I had zero upper body strength and about 20 extra pounds. Then, a few weeks ago, I made it all the way across (10 bars). What a great feeling!

I have already posted these....but, don't mind sharing again.
1st NSV: Size 18/20 pants down from a 26/28
2nd NSV: Size 42 D bra down from a 48 DD (yesterday!)
I agree that it is not all about the number on the scale, these non-scale victories are fantastic motivators!!0 -
NSV : I walked up the hill before my house without taking a break (it's a hell hill so this was a pretty big deal)
NSV : I danced for 15 minutes straight without having to take a break (:D)0 -
I've fit back into all of the pants that didn't fit me last February.
Having always been someone who has hated running, I can now go 4 miles and am training towards a 10K in late October.0 -
I saw a video of myself from this Saturday and thought who is that with the thin looking legs. It was me!!0
-
my first favorite NSV was that I could do chinups!!! Never was I able to do that until MFP!
CHIN UPS!!!!0 -
My scale wasn't kind this week but my waist is 3.5 INCHES less after only 1 month!!!0
-
I've lost 11 lbs since i started MFP but total of 23. this has taken me from a size 22 to an 18, from a 42DD bra down to a 38DD, and only 29 pounds more, and I will weigh less than my husband, LOL This is the closest I have ever been to that.0

My NSV.. I went to American Eagle and when I went a yr ago I was in a size 12 and now I wear a size 6. I havent wore a size 6 since 9th grade. I was so excited..THANK U JILLIAN MICHAELS.. and still going..0

When I started at the gym two months ago, 3.5 mph and 5.5 on the treadmill got my pulse up to 145 and it took me 20 minutes to feel human again after a 45 minute workout.
Now, 3.8 and 6.0 gets my pulse up to 130, and I feel great before I even make it to the shower room.
All of the shorts I wore last summer now require a belt, or I'd become a peep show!
My dress pants went from "I can't breath" to "hmm, need to hit the 3rd hole on the belt instead of the first"0 -
I LOVE THIS. I have zero upper body strength and am now making this one of my fitness goals. I will cross the monkey bars eventually. Thank you!!!!!My recent NSV was making it all the way across the monkey bars at the playground by our house. Okay I am sorry to sound like a moron but what does NSV stand for? I know the end is victory but cannot figure out the rest. :blushing:0

What a great thread!
I've had many NSV's but the one that blows my mind the most is simply walking. Nine years ago I'd been using a cane for several years and I limped big-time. Just stepping up onto a curb was an ordeal. Eight years ago I had both knees replaced. Things were much better -- no limp, no cane -- but also not much stamina or strength.
I started walking about 6.5 months ago and lasted maybe 20 minutes first time out. A week ago I walked seven MILES ... and on Saturday, I spent four hours on my feet, working a farmers market.
Life is good.0 -
Today I got in the car to go pick my kid up from school. I had my hands at the bottom of the steering wheel, I looked down and went, "WTF!?!? Who moved my seat?!" Then I realized my seat was in the exact same place. There was just less of my fat belly crowding the steering wheel.0

got another couple
my watchband has always been a little loose letting my watch turn over on my wrist....i now need to have at least 2 links taken out in order for it to not constantly be slipping around my wrist...i'm going to wait until i'm "done" to change it since it might need to go down more by then....
my wedding band is one size bigger than my engagement ring just because it is closer to the inside of my hand - (i hate the feeling of tightness) anyway, they both spin around on my finger most of the day and they will need to also be resized eventually....
please keep sharing your NSV (non scale victories) so that we can keep the momentum going....it is not all about the number on the scale....we have to get passed that and realize that all the little changes we make to our daily life contribute the big picture to a better healthier life in the end....
monday morning i was up to 181 but i stayed the course yesterday: drinking my water, eating within my calories, doing a kickass workout with the trainer at the gym and getting to bed at a reasonable hour....this morning i was back down to 177....i DID NOT LET THE SCALE TELL ME HOW TO RUN MY DAY YESTERDAY...if i had, i would still be up, maybe even more....the scale will not dictate my successes in this journey.....0 -
I've had a few over the past few weeks, although I was off the wagon with eating and working out.
1- I fit into a size 11 jeans ( I was an 18 at my biggest) without any muffin top.
2- I was able to wear a bra I haven't worn in 3 years without it being snug or leaving marks on my skin.
3- When I put my HRM on the other day, I decided to update my weight, and I realized I've lost 10lbs since I added my weight.
4- I can shave my legs without my belly getting in the way lol.. possibly tmi but very exciting for me.0 -
Well i've have a couple: a pair of dress pants that i bought 1 yr ago now fits. Before i couldn't get them ovr my hips. They are tight but they fit.
So yes i have fat back as i call it. Since being on MFP its starting to go down. The muffin top is slowly disappering too.
Biggest NSV yet : my thighs are becoming slimmer but building muscle also. My legs and thighs have never looked so good in heels.0 -
I got to ride the rides at the amusements with my son last week!0
-
Even though I am within 4 pounds of my goal (16 pounds lost since finding MFP and 30 in total) I couldn't help but buy the shiny new food scale I ran across at the super market. Hopefully this is a sign that the lifestyle change is sinking in and I won't have to lose these same 30 pound for the fourth time. Two of the last three times I used Nutrisystem which works great but doesn't train you how to eat right preparing your own foods. Thank you MFP!0
