Think I should return my Castelli "Climber" jersey (it's like a technical string vest for keeping cool in hot weather) as it clearly hasn't made me into a climber.
This is Barhatch Lane which has a bit of an evil reputation with riders in my area. Similar to quite a few other hills nearby it starts easy, gets harder and before the summit takes you into the heartrate zone known as "the paramedic zone".

Revisited the Audax route that I had to abandon two weeks ago but this time mapped out my own GPX file and did it solo.
Perfect weather and as I hoped the 68 miles route went through gorgeous countryside while crossing the upper reaches of the Thames ten times.
A bit of a quirky route with more paths, tracks, gravel and rough country roads than I'd choose but it also took me to some lovely quiet roads and lanes that I would never have tried otherwise. One of the river crossings involved walking the bike over an enormous weir and lock complex.
188 miles for June so far.

200 miles for the week including a 68 mile road ride and a 44 mile off road ride - my longest ride on the dirt.
Explored half of the Downs Link, a shared trail linking Guildford to Shoreham on the coast mostly following the path of long disused railway lines, lovely and peaceful.

Enjoyable riding week with two MTB rides and two road rides ticking off more sections of the Surrey Cycleway including a few nasty hills. By complete coincidence numbers 16, 17 and 18 in list of 100 top GB climbs.
White Lane at 22%, White Downs at 20% (delighted to PR that one) and Leith Hill at a mere 16% but a long climb.

I missed this thread. In the middle of race season so the mileage is down in favour of being fresh for and recovering from harder efforts.
I've also started doing cross bike rides with short hard efforts in the middle, makes a change and is getting me out on some different routes.
We've also been away a bit more recently so have been exploring new places. Today was 120km in Cheshire. We even managed to find a couple of climbs.0 -
My husband and I are trying to cycle at least one 50 km ride each month.

188 miles for the week in four rides, 2 short ones and 2 long rides of 72 and 87 miles. That was my longest ride since the world was turned upside down by COVID.
Ticked off the final section of the Surrey Cycleway (which included the surprise of being taken down a muddy, overgrown, stinging nettle infested footpath - which I wasn't expecting on what is supposed to be a road course).
I'll repeat the main 92 mile circuit in one go next month as a finale.
772 miles and 52 hours of cycling so far this month which are PBs for me (must be a late developer!).
3,284 miles for the year.

Very hilly 65 mile ride in Ashdown Forest today, 5515ft of climbing. Picked a challenging ride to tick off June's goals.
June goals were:

Biggest ever cycling month for me and switching from lots of medium rides to a mix of short and long rides with a bit more recovery has paid dividends.
