Hi!
I'm new to MFP and have been trucking away for a week after my friend lost 12ks and looked fabulous. Before that I'd been doing a no carbs diet which was working but I wanted to rip those ks off faster. I've got LOTS to lose. Anyway I'd already been in a routine of doing about 50mins of exercise per day (mainly zumba) and I'm feeling fabulous and getting more and more toned. (I've got a waist now - yey!!!)
ok so I'm only eating the cals I'm meant to before exercise (1400) and not having extra with the exercise I'm doing. I'm not hungry and feel like I'm eating enough but I jumped on the scales and I've lost nothing in this first week and I'm really disheartened. my body is looking good but the scales aren't being my friend. I'm weighing everything and am not cheating and drinking 9 glasses of water but it's just not helped my loss.
Does anyone have any hints for me please?
I am on a mission and will keep on plugging away at this until Im at my goal but I'm wondering if this system is right for me. I've already lost 7 ks on the other diet but I'm seeing no change for all my hard work this week.
Anyway, if you can give me some advice I would be most appreciative.
Kind regards and thankyou.

I see this over and over with people who want to lose weight faster. Surprisingly, your body needs more fuel in order to be able to burn more fat. There are a lot of great threads on here with much more scientific information on the subject than I know. What I do know is that I was at a plateau until I upped my calories and started eating more.
Since you're not having good luck with the scale moving, what have you got to lose by trying to eat back your exercise calories for a week or two? I think you'll be surprised by the results!0 -
some people it takes longer than others to see the numbers go down..
when do you weigh yourself? i do it in the moring after i use the restroom.. some days i lose a lb and sometimes its .2lbs.
just dont give up..0 -
Thanks guys,
yes I'm wondering if I'm eating too little. I'm going hard with the exercise which feels amazing and my body has totally changed since I started 2 months ago. I'll give more cals a go even though my brain thinks I should eat less. It'll be a good test but I have my 40th in 2 weeks and am so scared to put on weight. But hey, it's about the end result right? And I only weigh myself once a week, as I hate scales anyway so try to stay away as long as I can.
Thankyou so much, I'm not giving up. You've been lovely both taking the time to write to me and I thankyou so much.

remember muscle weights more then fat. sometimes it takes longer then a week to see weight loss. I have losed about 1 lb per week but it took a couple of weeks for it to start to come off. Good luck0

Thanks again! I'm very grateful but you see I'm not a "forum" person generally and am so happy to be a part of this one! You're all very motivational!
Thanks from Australia!0
