Oh my @MissMay ... will our hubbies ever learn. Hope that today & this evening was less hectic with less drama. Good luck with the purging of your garage! Is the painting studio upstairs?5

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Yes yesterday was a better day, no alcohol drama. (Lord knows I've been through worse).
@mainelylisa YES YES YES need to have our special day very soon. It will be a year in September since we've got together. WTH? Come to town, I can take you to an art gallery with some very talented painters (hee hee) works for sale in there. Then we can hit the kombucha tasting room and set out in a seakayak through the harbor.
@Lilylady3k purging going well, but slow. My paint studio is in the lower part of garage. One of the garage bays was transformed into an insulated heated seperate room by my late husband. It is my sanctuary.
I was just telling lmlmrn that I now have to get into there because that room took a severe hit this weekend with stuff being thrown in there that is definitely not getting tossed out. I hate messy, so now today I have to make it neat again, just because.
Perfect weather here, almost like September temps. Plans this week include a dinner out with another paint enthusiast gal pal. Who does not give a hoot if we drink while out or not.
AF last night.
7/9
3 drinks
( all odd numbers I just noticed, lol)

AF 2 nights in a row but not planning to take the opportunity to drink this evening even though I could according to my goals this month. DH will be out after dinner at a new hobby club that I found for him (IPMS 2nd Tues of each month) which does not include drinking!!! He enjoyed it last month and is looking forward to going back tonight. New group of people to talk with and share some of his love of history & modeling. It is funny ... he said that they are all older like him but all now have the time & $ they didn't as kids to splurge on their hobby. The kid in him is having fun with this.
Shooting for another Sunday-Thursday AF. Not because I'm working (I'm retired) but because next week will be a huge challenge for me since I'm out at events M-Th night.
August accountability: 6/9 days AF
Alcohol: 3 days (7 drinks)

AF last night, didn't think of drinking once. I really never do until Wednesday now just because I declared Wed. a drinking day. I think I need to change this. It's not Weight Watchers where you rack up AF points that you can use as you wish. But this is how my head thinks!
Going out for my morning run now....goal today is to make the next 14 hours really good8 -
Aug Week 1 AF
Aug 8: AF
Aug 9: AF7 -
I am continuing with my usual goal, 16-20 AF days for the month, diary style
Sunday Aug 01 - Drinks, planned drinks day - 2 1/2 drinks. Thursday is my next planned drinks day.
Monday Aug 02 - AF
Tuesday Aug 03 - AF
Wednesday Aug 04 - AF - Planned drinks tomorrow night after work
Thursday Aug 05 - 2 drinks
Friday Aug 06 - 2 drinks
Saturday Aug 07 - Drinks - I had planned to be AF, and then my schedule got changed and I am off tomorrow, so going to have a couple tonight.
Sunday Aug 08 - AF - I get off at 3 on Wednesday and don't go back to work until 5pm on Saturday. Planning drinks for a couple of those days. Haven't even had Mojitos yet this year and the Mint is so perfect right now. That will be on the agenda for sure.
Monday Aug 09 - AF
Rolling total: 5AF days out of 9 days5 -
Yeah AF last night, but did not sleep well at all. I notice this happens when I have had drinks a few nights in a row and the next AF night I really don't sleep.
Another observation today. Monday morning (had Alcohol on Sunday) went to the gym and of course I did not do well. My body was having none of it even though in the past it did not seem to be a problem when I drank daily(?). Anyway I notice when I am not drinking the pain of walking up and downstairs in my knees all but goes away.
I will have to think on that some more and pay closer attention7 -
10 Days AF and so far, so good. Past the initial cravings but this is a somewhat mental game for me. My work requires a lot of overseas meetings and so I start before 5 am a few days a week. My reward at the end of those 12 hour days is typically a big beautiful glass (or 2 or 3 or...) Of Pinot Grigio. It's habit, really-- I need to remember that! Habits can be broken, I just need to figure out what to replace it with.8

AF 9/9 days. I think this might have been the first weekend that I had no alcohol at all in quite a long time.
I'm leaving town tomorrow until Saturday and don't plan to be AF Wednesday through Friday. However, next weekend I'm going to try a couple of these mocktails. The two that sound good are the Mock Gin & Tonic using juniper berries and the Blender Coconut Daiquiris which sound delicious. In recent months I've been on a G&T kick using the Fever-Tree tonic and the S.Pellegrino citrus tonic. One of the problems with a lot of mocktails is that they have too much sugar which I try to avoid. The Cherry Chaser also sounds good if I can find some tart cherry juice without added sugar.

Thanks @LazyBlondeChef! These look like great replacements!5 -
Hi there! I just started on MFP yesterday and am so happy to see this thread. I'm am looking to make a more permanent lifestyle change to simply not drink as much. I don't drink much privately, but my husband and I always seem to have something going on that inevitably includes alcohol (whiskey tastings, dinner parties, etc) My current goal is one social drink on each weeknight if I'm attending an event (like a dinner party) and up to three drinks on weekend evenings (Friday/Sat). I know I'm starting this on the 10th but I'm curious how I will do the rest of the month.11

August goal is at least 2 AF days for every 1 drinking day (So 21 AF and 10 drinks days max). On the drinks days I plan to have no more than 2.
Week 1
8/1 - 8/7 5 AF, 2 drinks
Week 2
8/8 AF
8/9 2 Michelob Ultra
8/10 2 Michelob Ultra
Plan to be AF through at least Friday. May have a couple Saturday evening at a beer/wine tasting charity event. I haven't decided yet.
I have noticed that now that I am not drinking daily I feel kind of down when I go to bed on nights I have had alcohol. My mood on AF days is great. Maybe even more AF days are in order more my mental health.6 -
AF this evening while sipping on this spicy sparkling lemonade. 10 calories for the whole bottle and only 3 carbs

I am not going to lie @Lilylady3k that looks so refreshing!
AF tonight, but I am having one of those ---there is not enough food to satisfy----I know this is just a bad case of hand to mouth habit. I guess I better go forage in the kitchen.7 -

Tuesday Aug 10 - AF - I will be having drinks on my days off, and finally will have the time to go to a lake or even a motel with a pool. This could be the last few hot days of the season, I was working too much to enjoy the hot weather prior to this. Very excited about getting a few days off. I know that I still want at least 10 more AF days this month.

Mapping out next week and as usual the 3rd week of the month is going to be tough. It always challenges me making my goal of 12-16 AF days. But this time I've planned ahead with many AF days in the first two weeks. I've built in a buffer with 9 AF days before this weekend. So even if I slip and decide to have wine at book club it will not derail me for the month. But still juggling the other goal to target no more than 2 nights in a row when I have 4 weeknight events that include alcohol!
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
Planned
8/13 - TGIF - 2 glasses wine w/Salmon
8/14 - 2 glasses wine w/beef bourguignon
8/15 - AF
8/16 - AF - Book Club
8/17 - 1 wine - ZTA Houston Area Alumnae Kickoff
8/18 - AF - ZTA Book Club
8/19 - 2 wine - Well Done Cooking Class - Espana Date Night w/ friends
8/20 - AF TGIF
8/21 - 2 wine
8/22 - AF

Well just finalized a weekend road trip, leave Friday afternoon and return Sunday evening. On our area temps are expected to reach the 100's so we are going to travel north to cooler weather. I think we may even make it to the racetrack to watch the cars go in circles on a dirt track...exciting huh? This will mean I need to plan my drink(s). Do I do a Friday/Saturday one or just wait until I get home on Sunday or skip altogether? That is unclear right now.
@MissMay how is the garage/studio doing??n any progress on organizing and downsizing?
Oh the comment I had about not enough food last night, well apparently I found some and the scale said it found where it went, to the tune of 3lbs hahaha
more later, I am in the midst of changing all my accounts (over 100) from two email address that no longer work to two news ones. It really is a pain and I hope to have my list completed in the next month so I can completely close the old emails out. Right now I have to log into the webhosting service to read them...just not worth it.

Anyone else try 'Ritual' brand alternative spirits? I'm sipping an AF gin & tonic, and though it doesn't really taste like a regular g & t, I like it. DH does not, he thinks it tastes weird. It has a lot of botanicals, and they try to replace the warmth of the alcohol with heat from spice. Anyway, I'm glad I do like it because a bottle is comparable to the price of a decent gin!5

Now if I could get my nutrition back under control. Exercise is great...food not so much. I have a very healthy BMI and only have a few vanity pounds, but I need to fuel my body better.
My goal for tomorrow will be AF and healthy food.6 -

GOOD morning, I see I have been slacking with putting out my little comparison chart the past few months.
It is always healthly to know what ONE drink really is.
It is not a bottle of wine(5 drinks), nor is it a shot and a beer(2 drinks).
Pours count. Getting a larger than nessacery glass and filling it to the rim can be over what counts as one drink.( notice the negative space in the glasses below)
Honesty starts with yourself. Be honest for your health. ☺

I have never heard of this brand, but then again we dont get a huge variety up where I live. Glad your enjoying the taste and satisfaction from it.4 -
I am pretty sure the moon phase has something to do with our eating habits lately. Last night I drove out of town by myself and slipped into the new creamery that opened recently. It is a true experience and I want to call it a frozen speak easy.
@lmlmrn lol, that is where I was when I gave you the fantastic news that you sold another of your paintings . See, I was celebrating for you with frozen non alcoholic drink! CONGRATULATIONS you talented artist.💓5 -
