Hey guys and girls
I just recently received a wake up call I'm close to having a heart attach or stroke, my cholesterol is high and so is my sugars.
The reason I am here this time is I've been told need to eat low carbs. Does anyone know where to start? I've searched low carbs but I feel like a wheel going no where. No negative comments please

It is essentially very easy. Just cut everything containing carbs: bread, pasta, potato, rice, oatmeal, cereals, cakes, cookies, pastries, candies, ice cream. Fruits are on the cutting board too. You can consume only low carb fruits and berries: strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, kiwi. plums, peaches. Unfortunately, bananas, grapes, pineapples should be out for more time than you eating now. Sometime you still can indulge in banana if you really want them, but sometime should be really sometime, like once a week.
In modern grocery store there are plenty of substitutes for bread, like keto bread, keto or carb-balance tortilas, Rice can be substituted by cauliflower rice, and cauliflower pizza, potato can be subs by kohlraby cabbage, cauliflower mshed, spaghetti squash.
Than you start cooking yourself. Recipies for keto dishes and even keto deserts and pancakes are plentyfull on youtube. More you doing it more you will learn and have a lot of fun.
Don't fall in trap that if the bread is whole grain, it is healthy. All in opposite . Within only few minutes every starch in the bread, spaghetti, or potato splits on small rings of glucose or fructose and passes in your guts as simple sugars. Such way your body does not recognizes what you just ate, cake or "healthy" bread.5 -

as long as it doesn't have breading on it, meat itself doesn't have any carbs.3 -
Hey there, I've done the carb free diet before and also helped my mum to lower her cholesterol (successfully)(she doesn't have internet!) When it comes to cholesterol there are lots of cholesterol "reducing" products on the market light yoghurt drinks and one specific brand of margarine, then there are "low cholesterol" alternatives to things like cheese. You'll find if you just cut out processed foods, fried food, cakes and sweets etc you'll quickly lower your levels.
As for the low carb diet - cauliflower pizza is, in my opinion, time consuming and tastes like sadness. Portabello mushroom pizza is the way to go! (Yes mushrooms still have carbs, but significantly less than bread)
Cauliflower rice - they do it in microwave bags now in the freezer section if you dont have time for blitzing, cauliflower mash (don't over cook the cauliflower, it goes bitter) with dairylea light, wholegrain mustard and nutmeg is actually amazing! A spirilizer helps - courgette spaghetti is actually really nice with Ragu etc.
Roasted cherry tomatoes with balsamic is great with fish or chicken instead of potatoes.
Courgette chips - sprayed with oil, salt and pepper and parmasan (the parmasan makes them crispy)
There are so many recipes now and most of them are really good!
There's a website called "pinch of nom" that has loads of great recipes for diets and you can filter by low carb.
Also there's a series on all4 right now called "lose a stone in 21 days" where the dude puts people on low carb diets and explains carbs and how they work in the body and stuff that's worth a watch!

MFP itself is a useful tool for learning which foods are high and low in carbs. Log your foods and read the carb content. If you are prediabetic you are probably safe eating no more than 45g net carbs (carbs minus fiber) per meal, which includes a two hour window. However, that’s not “low carb” but moderate carb. Low carb diets vary depending on what the goal is.
In most cases you can eat almost anything, just not all at the same time and not in the portions you are used to.
When you say your sugars are high, what were the actual numbers? What was your fasting glucose and what was your a1c?
In addition, if your cholesterol is high, you should not be eating a diet high in unhealthy fats either. Keto, according to the latest round of studies, is not the healthiest choice to lower cholesterol levels and reduce cardio risk.
Start by adding in green vegetables and you can’t go wrong! Also, fresh or frozen berries and dark chocolate are a great low carb choice for a sweet treat.

For what it’s worth, my dietician recommended a minimum of 100 carbs per day. Max 150.
To help me lose weight and keep my glucose under control.
