Need Support for 100+ Weight Loss

Hello. I am looking for a support system in losing 100 pounds. I live in Maryland near DC. I wanted some people to talk to, help push each other and maybe if we live close, I need people to exercise with. Anyone up for it?

I’m saying this as a someone who used Sparkpeople for 5 years and has used MyFitnessPal for 6, and in that time I have lost, as of today, 222 pounds. My goal is 259, and at that point I will have abdominal skin removal surgery. Anyway…You are so completely and absolutely Spot On with everything you have said that the only thing I can add is a recommendation for a mantra. “Patience and Persistence will get me through anything”. It’s gotten me this far. As you can tell from the length of time it has taken me to lose the weight, I’ve had some bad Years! But I never gained back more than 30 pounds (I started with an 80 pound loss), and I just kept trying and never gave up. Do what this woman has said to do. Measure. Track your food intake. Move as much as you are comfortable moving. You’ll get there. It CAN be done! It will seem like the blink of an eye when it happens, and people will constantly ask you “How did you do it without surgery?”. And you just tell them. Patience, and Persistence.

@mrstoripowell I'm right there with you, I have quite a bit to lose myself & would love to have supportive friends near me. I don't live near you, sadly, but soooo many people here have found success, it's so inspiring! Have you read through the success stories and other posts?

I've been at this a long time. It becomes a part of your life, and like any other habit, you don't think about it much, really. Your eating habits slowly change. You weigh and log your food. Your activity levels (usually) change, at least to some degree. You become more mindful of what you are putting in your shopping cart and body. My one (or two) words of caution is to make these changes slowly. Most people who go 'All in' head first and full steam, burn out quick. Your first couple of weeks, maybe even first month, most people will lose a fair amount fairly quickly, but most of it is water weight (usually from a reduction in carbs). It does slow down, as your body adjusts. It's normal, and is SUPPOSED to happen, so don't get discouraged. Also, don't set your calories too low. The fastest rate of loss (1200 for women and 1500 for men) is not the best rate of loss. Although very tempting to set it to lose faster, it will make it harder for you to maintain and stick to your calorie goals because you will be ... well, hungry. Be kind to yourself, give yourself a few more calories, and you will still lose weight and be less likely to deviate from your plan and therefore more likely to succeed. :)
