workout bench for small space

Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any recommendations for workout benches for small spaces (apartment dwellers)? I see Flybird adjustable weight bench is popular on Amazon. Has anyone used it and would recommend it?

He's got some reviews of couple others that fold up flat to wall.

I was looking for ideas, too. Pretty sure I want an incline/decline bench rather than a flat bench. I am just beginning to lift and I have read that incline bench presses are safer for you than flat bench presses. Also, I just don't plan on lifting truly heavy weights, so I don't need something that handles massive amounts. This is the one I was looking at. Just wish I could find one that did leg curls, too.

Careful with leg curls - that may be how I messed up my knee - 12 years ago and it is still a problem :disappointed:

Flat benches are hard on my back.

I bought something similar to the one in your link for a lot less at Walmart. Mine is a Gold's Gym and this $54 bench is a Weider - other than the branding they seem identical. I'm 5'6" and don't recommend it for anyone taller than me unless they don't mind their head hanging off the back:

This is the exact one I bought but for some reason, maybe pandemic pricing, it is $92 on Amazon and I believe I paid $49.00 for it, but that was in 2017 or 18.

Where ever you read that flat bench or any lift for that matter is more inherently less safe than another lift, I would advice not to read that source again. There is zero evidence of that being true.

Also "heavy" is subjective to the individual. My 600lbs is the same "heavy" as another person's 1000lbs or another's 55lbs as far as the stress needed to achieve an adaptation.

My suggestion is to research proper load management as well as auto regulation and both can help you use the correct weight for whatever rep/volume scheme you are planning to utilize within your exercise selection.

Good luck on finding your equipment 👍.

No offense but guessing it's s piece of junk. Description says it weights 20 pounds and leather covering? LOL don't think so.

I looked at the FLYBIRD and liked it. I wound up with a similar fold-up adjustable FID bench by PASYOU. It’s not for lifting over 250 lbs, but fine for me. For its light weight, it’s sturdy and folds up nicely in my spare bedroom.

As you can see, it does not have a bar to hold a barbell for chest press or squats - which is ok for me since I got mine for working with adjustable dumbbells also due to space concerns.

Of course it doesn’t stand up to professional gym quality but I have zero complaints.
