Hi Pals,

I am now 3 weeks old to myfitnesspal. I lost 3.3 lbs or 1.5 kg. I donot think this is sufficient. I am 5'5 and my weight is 76.5 now, I want to loose more. Speed up this weigt lossing thing. Do you hink I am on right track. I have a goal to loose 13 kgs in 5 months.

Help!!

To faciliate you in understanding my diet n exercise.

1. 45-60 mins of treadmill, yoga,crunches,cycling,cross training 5 days/week
2. 8-10 glasses of water
3. I am always having near about 1000-1300 calories.

Do I need to eat back my calories to loose more weight?

  • Most weight loss plans will tell you 1-2 lbs/week is a healthy pace to lose weight, and I'll agree with that. 3.3 pounds in three weeks is terrific, in my opinion!

since you only have less than 30 lbs to lose you should not expect to lose more than 1 lb/week. I would suggest changing your goal to 1 lb/week to ensure you are feeding your body adequately.
  • I agree with previous posts. The slower the more apt you are to keep it off. Also, the less you have to lose the slower it will come off. Remember HeAlThY and maintaining is the long term goal. Good Luck!!! You are doing GREAT!!! :flowerforyou:

You are undereating, more than likely. Subtracting all of that exercise from 1000 calories gives you a very low net calorie intake for the day. While I agree that a 1 pound per week loss is probably what you should be aiming at, I'm betting you'll find that eating back your exercise calories will give you better loss results overall.

You are making great progress with the 1 pound a week. Try taking your measurements to so you can track inches lost. As you are dieting and exercising your body shape will change and the scale isn't always the best indicator of those changes. This way you can see that while you may not be losing pounds as quickly as you'd like your body composition is hopefully changing, losing fat and adding muscle tone.

I was always told that 1200 calories a day is bare minimum. Some people eat back their exercise calories and some don't. Try it both ways for a week or two and see which works best for you.
