Hello Diamonds and Happy Tuesday!
QOTD: I tend to get stuck in a rut...A LOT! Eating the same thing each day, exercising the same way, etc. I fall into this trap because it is easy - I wake up each day, have a bowl of oatmeal (don't want to think too hard at 6:00 am), eat basically the same lunch, with the same snacks, and often have similar suppers week after week. Although I try to stagger my kinds of workouts through the week, if I am pressed for time I tend to turn to the same thing, or my favourites, more often. In the last 3 months, I have lost a mere 5 -6 lbs....how do you shake up your routine? What advice do you have to bust through a plateau? How do you keep your motivation up during these times?
Oops - realized that was actually 3 questions at the end....hope that is okay....:ohwell:
I have different fitness programs I do, like Leslie Sansone, Hip Hop ABS and Jillian Michaels 30DS. That way if I'm tired of one routine, I can do another. I also have Zumba, insanity, and the firm, but they're a little bit too hard for me right now. As for meals, since my hubby is a culinary specialist in the Navy, he tells me to make a menu for the week. So, when I make up the menu, I count the calories and have everything ready for the most part. But then some days I just eat what I see at home. When grocery shopping, I buy low calorie foods and treats. I'm a SAHM, so I usually want to "pig out" but I don't usually go overboard. I try to workout when my son is sleeping in the morning or taking his naps.0 -

I do a lot of different things to work out so I am constantly doing whatever I feel like with my workout. I don't much like working out so the different activities keep me going somewhat. I also experiment with lots of different recipes. I made the most AMAZING dinner this weekend and it was basically three different recipes combined. I have motivated days and unmotivated days. I let myself rest when I just don't have the energy or the will to do something. Lately I have been working long hours, so no motivation, but I keep trying. One of my big secrets is to put my workout clothes on. I don't know what it is, but when I have my workout clothes on, not only do I exercise more, but I get more done around the house and I generally feel better.0 -
What is the craziest thing you ever did to lose weight?
Okay, I will warn you, this is pretty bad. Just after high school, I was coming out of a breakup and wanted to lose weight. I had never really tried before, but I had put on a lot in dating my ex. So, I started walking and jogging in the middle of the day in the Texas sun (90+ degrees). And I started sneaking my mom's diet pills. Plus, I thought that dietary "supplement" meant it should replace a meal, so many times I skipped a meal or more than one meal. I know, bad, bad, bad. It makes me cringe just thinking about it.0 -
QOTD Wednesday the 14th: What is the craziest thing you ever did to lose weight?
I don't think I've ever done anything crazy to lose weight. I've lost weight because I was too busy to eat much and so active that I was burning a ton of calories, but that's the closest I've come.0 -
Everyone,
QOTD Wednesday the 14th
What is the craziest thing you ever did to lose weight?
I think I have never done anything crazy to loose weight! This is the first time in my life, that I would like to lose some weight!0 -
QOTD Wednesday the 14th: What is the craziest thing you ever did to lose weight?
Um, I haven't really done anything outside of MFP and other programs (WW).
**OOPS...forgot I was under ShiningDiamonds**0 -
QOTD Wednesday the 14th: What is the craziest thing you ever did to lose weight?
Not a lot of craziness but I did try diet pills a couple of times - every time I did, however, they made me so jittery I ended up stopping them after just a few days!0 -
QOTD Wednesday the 14th
What is the craziest thing you ever did to lose weight?
I took all sorts of diet pills. I worked at Vitamin World (similar to GNC), and I researched what would help me lose weight. I would take all sorts of herbs, vitamins, etc. I would double the recommended dosage. I finally got tired of taking so any pills, then I joined the army to keep my weight down. Once I got pregnant, my weight skyrocketed. Now I "try" to eat healthy and workout.0 -
No craziness here either. Just good old fashion eating right and exercise:bigsmile:0

LISA is our QOTD poster for today...PLEASE remember to post.
Ladies,
I want to encourage you to rejoin during round 6; however, if you are unable to make the 4-week committment you may want to sit the round out and regroup.
The Diamond Challenge is very good, but does require your DAILY participation! We are hoping to have Jamaica back as a leader of the Little Diamonds by the time the round starts; however, if she is not available we will have 3 groups in the challenge:
Diamonds In The Rough (DITR) - Leader, Jennifer
Shining Diamonds (SD) - Leader, Angie
Determined Diamonds (DD) - Leader, Brandie (the one and only balowry1 from the LD group)
If you would like to request a certain team or Leader, please feel free to add your request in the Comments section of the registration form. Also, I added a section for you to make suggestions that you feel would help improve the challenge or you can tell us what you feel is bringing the challenge down.
There have been some excellent suggestions made from some diamonds and I feel that several of them will be implemented.
As of right now, each group will consist of 30 members and 3 diamond colors that will be broken into 10 groups of 2 buddies.0 -

I dont' think I've ever done anything really nuts. Maybe south beach for 10 days, that sucked.
I'm excited for round 6! round 5 was a little stunted but we'll do better next time.0 -

QOTD Wednesday the 14th: What is the craziest thing you ever did to lose weight?
Good gosh - where do I begin??? I have been "dieting" pretty much continually for 30 years!
Diet pills - yup
Master Cleanse - yup
Slim Fast - yup
Cabbage Soup diet - yup
Carb blockers - yup
Atkins/South Beach/other diet books - yup
Even tried these things that smelled like vanilla, mint and....hmmm there was another scent. Apparently you were to sniff before eating to suppress appetite.
Also did weight watchers, but I don't consider that crazy...
The last couple years, I did understand that I didn't need anything stupid - just eat better and exercise. I knew logging my food was key. Found MFP this past March...and the rest is history!0 -

I do keep up with the % loss and the pounds lost for my team (Shining Diamonds); however, I do not report it each week, but I will be posting the total pounds AND % lost to my team as the final report.
However, I will add your suggestion to the list0 -
Good morning little Diamonds!
It's my turn today for the QOTD! We already had a lot of fitness related question during the last 4 weeks. So I decided to ask something different to get to know all of you better!
