Hello Everyone!

My name is Robin and I'm new to Myfitnesspal. Trying to stay healthy and get off meds., if possible. I have high BP and cholesterol issues. I also suffer from Hypothyrodism that causes me to fluctuate in my weight. HELP! :)

I also have high BP and cholesterol issues. I've been working to lose weight by really watching my portion sizes (as I struggle with binge eating), slowly incorporating healthier food choices, and walking every day at lunch. The 30 minute walk along with the shift in how much I am eating/what I'm eating has helped me drop 60+ lbs since May. The doctor told me the exercise was good, but the food changes/portion sizes were more important to actual weight loss. So I really began to focus on that even though I would eventually like to up my exercise routine a bit.
But, the good news is I am actually on less medication now and my doctor thinks I will be able to fully come off everything soon. Plus with the healthier eating I've noticed I've had nearly zero migraines this last half of the year. An added bonus I guess.

I will say the hardest part for me was the first 30 days because it was like detoxing from junk food, but after that it was a lot easier as I started to feel better and I saw the scale moving along with the inches coming off. I definitely recommend keeping track of both those (inches and lbs) because I have had weeks where I didn't see any movement on the scale, but then I would measure and realize I was down an inch on my waist or leg. Those non-scale victories are just as important to motivation.

Anyway, just remember my favorite phrase for weight loss/getting healthier: "Progress not Perfection." It really helps on off days. Best of luck!
