What is the best approach for body fat percent loss when you hit a plateau?

Whichever one you like best, a plateau would simply indicate that you either need to do more of it, or eat less.

Depends on your current bf and where you want to get to

I agree with sollyn. Do whatever exercise you like best. The best workout is the one you do.
To lose weight you need to be at a caloric deficit.

The deficit will determine the body fat loss more than anything else. That being said, doing any real HIIT will use more muscle and promote water/glycogen retention. Not to mention that for some people it also makes them hungry quicker.

Overall for fat loss, I can get more out of lower intensity steady state myself. It's boring, but it's also good for your cardio base, and I don't get crazy hungry if I keep pace reasonable.
