Finally getting back to normal! My TOM bloat is insane. I think I can go up as much as 8lbs when it's that time of the month!
I'm hopeful that I'll lose another lb or 2 before we leave for Disneyland, and I'm even more hopeful that I'll continue to lose when we're there!5 -

Ayyy! I was not expecting to see a loss this week, so this was a nice thing to wake up to. Also, Crushvemberween was a success!
I might-could see Onederland by the end of this month, and I'm well on track to meet my challenge goal for the r/LoseIt Cryptid Hunt (203 by 11/19). I'm excited for all of that and I'm hoping I can keep my grip on that excitement to stay on-track over the next couple of weeks. Hubs' surgery got moved around FOUR times - I get that his case isn't life-and-death and medical scheduling involves keeping a lot of plates spinning at once and things happen, but there's also hella logistics on the patient side, guys! Get it together! At this point we have a date and time (11/9 8:50 AM), but from all the schedule *kitten*ery last week I don't think I can relax until it's actually over. A morning time slot should work out better, though - he won't have to fast as long, and I don't have to sit here and gnaw my own hands off with anxiety all day long. Just the morning, LMAO. The surgeon says what he has planned should take about 4 hours, so if he goes in at, call it 9 AM, he should be out by noonish.
I'm off Monday and Tuesday, possibly Wednesday depending on how Tuesday goes, and Thursday is a holiday so I'd be off that day regardless. I've told my boss I will, at minimum, make an appearance on Friday morning for our team meeting and to follow up on some stuff. I have some cooking projects I'm planning to tackle during my time off, but I also need to strike a balance between prepping meals and storing them - I've volunteered to handle the turkey for Thanksgiving this year, so that's taking up about half of my freezer space at this moment in time, and there's nothing to be done about that for a couple of weeks, yet. I'm planning to make a big pot of Cincinnati chili because it's one of Hubs' favorites, and I have some odds and ends I want to turn into Something (a spaghetti squash, a head of cabbage, a pound of ground beef, some carrots, some leftover pasta sauce - I can see the shape of a dish emerging, I just gotta get in there and make it).8 -

Almost forgot to post today! Went out last night and had a super lazy day today. The majority of my steps were actually from after midnight but before I went to sleep, lol. For my NSV, I was finally able to fit into (some of) my size 16 jeans! It feels so nice to wear clothes that actually show my shape instead of wearing saggy, unflattering jeans :-) There are still some other 16s that I can't quite fit in yet, but that just means I've got some more clothes for a couple months from now.
Goals for November:
- Add at least 1 day a week weight trainingโ
- Min 15 min cardio 5x per week: โ
- At least 8 glasses water dailyโ

Ugh. I had this long post typed out with responses to other posts then my computer crashed and I lost everything.
I didn't do as well as I would have liked for October but I still made progress. My goal for November and December is to do even better. I had to replace my Fitbit as mine was old and stopped working. I was on a 57 day step streak for meeting my daily steps then I lost my streak. I have been averaging between 12-14K steps a day. I am going to challenge myself and aim for 15K.
@goal06082021
I am happy to hear about the results of your husband's MRI. That is fantastic news.
Congrats on the pumpkin success. I loved watching you crush it!
@Wanderingin98198
I also was diagnosed with Type 2 in March. Congrats on your success so far.
@SammiGirl1321
I love the costumes and pictures. Thanks for sharing!
@Ladybug8882021
I have Fitbit too. Feel free to add me if you need more friends on there. I am JNettie73 and have the same profile picture that I do on here. Right now I have a trial of premium, I can invite you to some challenges. I find then fun and motivating.

October Ending weight: 195
Current Weight:196.4
My usual weigh in day is on Friday. I knew I was gaining and just couldn't bring myself to get on the scale until this morning and I MADE myself do it.
I have not made any progress since returning to work after summer break. I don't know why I keep allowing myself to get into this self destructive cycle. I'm not getting any younger and I really would like to be around to see my sons get married and have families of their own. My mother passed away at 64, her mother at 68, I don't want to fall into that statistic. Each day I grow closer to that age. I've missed my mom so much and she's missed out on watching how much my brothers' families and my family has grown.
So... I'm starting over AGAIN today. Sucking it up and hoping by Friday, my normal weigh in day that at least I can get back to 195 where I was before the gain.
Goal for the end of November is to be 192.
Thank you MPF family for always being there and understanding. I hope you all have a wonderful, successful week!

I struggle with self-destructive tendencies as well. Especially an all-or-nothing mentality. I seem to think that one "bad" food means the day is shot and leads to a bad day, then a bad few days, then it's "I'll start again on Monday, the first of the month, etc."
This time I'm focusing on progress rather than perfection. If I have a "bad" food or go over my daily calories, I log it, and work to do better with my next choice.
Getting started is a huge percentage of the battle. You've got this.3 -
Today, I saw 50lbs down. It probably won't last, as I ate a TON of veggies yesterday, resulting in a...shall we say faster than usual GI clearance. But, I'm taking it. My family is having Thanksgiving dinner today (due to some vacations for actual Thanksgiving). I'm hoping to at least keep it reasonable, but will likely go over my goal.6

Not sure if I should be still posting in this group, but I started in June 1, 2021 at 212, so I've kept in it.
Starting weight for November 169.8
November 7 168.2
Hope to lose - I'd love to lose eight pounds more and be back on track, but I have been losing more slowly lately, so I'll settle for five.

@patriciafoley1 Fine by me if you keep posting here!2

Well I didn't get to the 180 or below. Had an uptick to 181.8 lbs but I was true to my calories, carbs, water and exercise so just a normal weight fluctuation. So I lost 30.2 lbs during the 3 month challenge. Which is excellent!
So starting 11/1 at 181.8 lbs with goal of 5 lbs for the month. This 10 lb average / month that has been going on has got to slow down soon, I'm thinking.
Welcome back to past challengers and to the new ones!
64 yo 5' 4" Heaviest Weight twice-255 lbs, got down to 122 lbs 2010 and kept it off 5 years then got lazy.
11/1/21-181.8 lbs
11/7/21-180 lbs! Down 75 lbs. 58 lbs to my 122 lb goal. Did 200 minutes on my Elliptical today, 14.25 miles.3 -
@patriciafoley1 You can keep posting, I have seen some ladies post here all the way until maintenance.3

@patriciafoley1 - please do keep posting here, you give us all hope! ๐
@JNettie73 - I don't have any friends on Fitbit, have never participated in that community and I appreciate the offer! I am a little over 6000 steps today. Which is a new high for me since I strapped it on again ๐
I am at the airport, waiting to board my flight to Kauai, already enjoying my vacation ๐ plan to continue tracking and being active while away.

@Ladybug8882021
Have a wonderful time! Safe travels. I've been to Hawaii 3 times (the big island and Oahu twice) and had wonderful times! Not sure if I'll ever get the chance to go back again.3 -
@Ladybug8882021 have fun in hawaii!
@patriciafoley1 definitely keep posting, you're an inspiration!
I have Cooked Some Food this weekend, ladies.
My "odds and ends" dish ended up being basically eggroll filling (a riff on the old "egg roll in a bowl" that's apparently really popular in paleo circles, based on the google results I was getting?? ah, yes, the egg roll, a staple of the pre-agricultural revolutionary diet. /s) - thin-sliced cabbage, spaghetti squash, ground beef mixed with a dressing made of garlic, ginger, fish sauce, rice vinegar, gochujang, and honey. I'll use the rest of the pasta sauce for something else, probably. Then, to use up some of the huge bag of kale I had, I made a quick minestrone soup in my Instant Pot - I'll serve that with some fun colorful spooky pasta I picked up at Aldi last month. And finally, I made a big eggplant lasagna (using the rest of the kale in the tomato sauce part), that's mostly for me but hopefully Hubs will be home in time to enjoy some of it as well. It won't freeze very well because of the eggplant.4 -

Goals:
1. Get back on track with strength training and running. Haven't gone to the gym in weeks but have exercised through moving boxes, unpacking, walking the dog, etc.
2. Only go over my calorie budget on Thanksgiving.
3. Start incorporating yoga/flexibility into my workout routine
Notes:
Been bouncing around 218 for about 4 days. Dipped into the 217 range twice. That said, I think I can lose 5.1 pounds in the next three weeks. Got back into the gym today. My apartment gym is... underwhelming. My mile was a minute slower than the last time I tracked. Need to work on speed and strength. I'm considering joining a planet fitness and seeing if I can get a personal trainer, but I don't know when to set aside time to do that. My dog gets surgery on Wednesday, and I need to be with her while she recovers.6 -
@goal06082021 I totally missed your pumpkin video but went back and found it. Way to go! You really crushed it (pun intended)!!!!!๐1

Hi everyone! I'm a little late today in getting in my weigh-in because work was absolutely bananas today.
SW (7/23): 300
11/1: 277.5
11/8: 277.6
GW for November: 271 - 274
I'm really annoyed at the scale, especially since I got down under 277 in the middle of the week before shooting back up. It's that time of the month, so some bloating and retention is to be expected. It's my first week over week gain since I started at the end of July.
Oh well! I know it's not real weight. I just hate dropping and then immediately yo-yoing back up 2 - 3 pounds every week. Even though the overall trend is definitely down, it can be discouraging.

Been round and round the weight loss merry-go-round for decades. I did really well on WW and MediFast and was nearly down to my goal weight a few years ago, but lost my way and regained some weight, but was still not in bad shape. Then the pandemic hit and with the lock-down and cessation of normal activities, I gained 50 (FIFTY!!!) pounds! So, here's my starting stats and my goals:
Age: 64 (almost 65)
Height: 5'8"10/
SW: 240 (10/17/2021) (My highest weight was 250 around 2004 and I absolutely do NOT want to go back there!)
CW: 236 (11/07/2021)
GW: 140ish
Weekly goal: 1 pound
My weigh in days are Sundays.
So far I have been recording everything I've eaten and have ever so slightly picked up my activities. It's hard for me to change my eating habits very much to be more healthy, as I have for years limited sugar, red meat, caffeine, white bread/potatoes/rice, bad fats, and sodium. BUT ... I gained some bad habits during the lockdown that I'm having to undo - pizza for lunch every day (WOW on the sodium, carbs, and fat!), snacks, and convenience foods (so I didn't have to go to the store). I'm doing the 1600 kCal/day plan right now. I adjust and start to lose weight, I'll drop that down to closer to 1200. I'm struggling with the sodium portion, though, as the meats that I have selected as low cal/low fat seem to be off the charts in sodium.6 -
Aloha! Thank you for all the well wishes!
I have gotten over 8000 steps yesterday and today, which beats the ** out of my 6000 high ๐
Changed my calorie target to maintenance and hope to keep under enough to lose something while here, but having a marvelous time. I am here with my darling daughter and she really really needs the break. I am logging food daily into my MFP diary so will pop in from time to time but no weigh ins until I am home. Scary.๐ณ
To all those frustrated by the ๐ โ - keep going! This is not a quick fix but you will prevail if you just keep going!! ๐ค9 -
@Ladybug8882021 I am so jelly of you right now! Enjoy your trip!4
-
@Ladybug8882021 - I'm so jealous! Have a great time!
Well, the scale was back down this AM to 276.2. I knew yesterday's weigh-in was a fluke and I tried really hard to not let it get me down.
Hope everyone has a great day!5 -
Good Day Ladies!
This is my first post.
CW = 214 lbs
GW = I'd say 130 lb to 150 lb. For me I need to have a certain level of fitness/health.
November goals:
--Water Intake!!! Goal is 100 oz a day.
--Getting back into the habit of logging my food for the day.
--Walk my dog for at least 30 minutes a day. This is usually about a mile walk because sniff stops. She needs more than that, but once we get the 30 min daily set, we can add more.
--Attending the gym. I decided I need to go minimum 20 days out of the month at least to justify the cost.
--Stretching Daily.
--Dance to heal some of my inner trauma.
--Fall color hike with my pup.
--End of the month goal weight 210 lb.

I had a pretty unmotivated weekend. My mom asked me to go through pictures of my grandfather who passed away in April and it opened up the emotional floodgate. Grief truly does come in waves. I didn't feel like doing ANYTHING.
My hubby smoked some pork chops and chicken quarters for dinners so I just had to come up with lunches for myself. And I had neither the energy to put together something that made sense or do anything to up the calories I could eat (like walking on the treadmill) so I could have comfort food (since the dinners were cal high already).
So one lunch I ended up eating popcorn with chili seasoning on it and an entire cucumber. Survival mode
I am really proud that I did not go down my usual route of dealing with these funks- drinking and binge eating. I stayed to my calories! I'm learning to manage without those vices!
And I was rewarded when the scale moved today after being at a plateau!10 -
@danikat15 well done handling a stressful situation!
I think I'm doing okay with my own stressful situation, staying within budget so far today. Hubs is about halfway through the procedure as i write this, two hours in and two to go. Once he was taken back this morning, while it was still cooler out, MIL and i went for a walk around a park across the street from the hospital to kill some time and move a little bit. I might go back out for another lap, tbh, or just wander the parking lot (the hospital is part of a huge complex). The hospital has a two-visitor-per-patient policy, and since there are 3 of us (me and his parents), we've been basically taking it in shifts in the waiting room, with two of us up there and one down in the cafeteria or sitting in the car. FIL took first watch, as it were, while MIL and i went to the park.6
