You walk into the rest room, open the stall and see anything floating in the toilet (could be toilet paper that just didn't make it down or could be the person didn't flush at all), do you:

1. find another stall
2. flush then find another stall
3. flush and use

Honestly, that's a huge fear for me....no joke it causes me severe anxiety. Even if it's just toilet paper, I literally start shaking and panicking! I can NOT use that toilet, I don't even care if it's the only one.

Why would anyone leave it that way?

    1, sometimes 2, but never 3.

No one wants a reminder that someone used the toilet before them.
  • 1. That's just gross.........and I don't usually sit on public toilets either. I hover lol.

    3. Unless it's clearly clogged.

I'm not a germaphobe and it's not that big of a deal.

2 or 3... I flush public toilets with my foot so I don't have to bend over it, lol...

Depending on what it was.... I will either use it after I flush it down or will flush and find another. But why leave it there to stink up the whole room and give everyone else a "nice surprise"? It bothers me that people don't flush in the first place!
  • D) Flush and WAIT to see if it overflows...and IF it doesn't, I'll use it.

Seriously, I do this for a living...if I got grossed out by toilets, I'd never get any work done.

AAAAah cmon, flush and use. Now if it is going to invade my personal space, like I have to smell something that came out of another person, or clean the seat, I find another stall. I honestly cannot understand why people have to leave a mess in a public restroom. I mean really people.

    Find another stall

I only use public restrooms when I have no other alternative.

^^^This. I also cannot leave papertowels on the floor of restrooms even if they don't belong to me. I'll get a clean one and pick up the rest and throw them away.

    AMEN to that!

OMG, at work one time I opened the stall to find this huge log (really impressive, I'm not kidding) and no paper floating in the bowl. I chose option 1.

I've chosen all of those options at one time or another...the *kitten* gaskets (a.k.a. toilet seat covers) don't always go down on the first try. In those instances, I don't have any issue with flushing & using. If someone leaves a deposit, on the other hand, I'll flush & walk away or just walk away depending on what the deposit is.

Really, really depends on what was left behind..

If nothing nasty 3. .... but agree with the foot strategy

If something I wish I hadn't seen, 2... no need to leave it for someone else ...

I would flush it and use it. Honestly, why does you having to flush the toilet make it any more undesirable than if the person that had just used it, flushed it?

Sure it's not optimal. in a perfect world, the toilet would be flushed, a seat cover would be in place and romantic music would be playing. But, hey, I just gotta take a dump, and I am going to expedite the process and get back to work.

Sometimes flush then find another, sometimes just find another. Depends on the mess. If someone dropped a load and didn't flush, sorry, not my job. If it's just pee or toilet paper, I'll flush it with my foot and move on.
