Newbie waving šŸ‘‹šŸ»

Hi there

Iā€™m new to MFP and it seems thereā€™s a lot to take in, so here I am. Iā€™ve never logged before so Iā€™m giving it a go in the hope that it gives me some insight and helps me make better choices.

Iā€™ve worked from home for over 5 years and over that time, the social circle has, understandable, fizzled away. I canā€™t even use Covid as an excuse, as I was on the WFH bandwagon way before that.

As a result, itā€™s been hard to drag myself off to the gym on my own but having seen some recent family health declines, Iā€™ve realised Iā€™ve got to sort this now before itā€™s too late.

Iā€™m hoping that I can create some connections on here as weā€™re all trying to reach our own goals for our own reasons.

Take care, stay safe, and have a great 2022!

    Welcome to MFP @Quiet_C

Family declines, i e seeing the handwriting on the wall, was one of the things that prompted me to -literally- get off my *kitten*.

I suggest logging in a few days of what you ate in a previous normal day, or over Christmas. For me it was eye opening.

MFP was recommending me about 1900 calories at the time but I was eating easily five times that. That was a shocker and made me take this seriously.

It doesnā€™t have to be the gym, btw. Simply walking is a super exercise, gets you away from your desk, clears the cobwebs, and requires no equipment other than great socks (worth the money) and good quality shoes.

Maybe stick a lunchtime or after dinner walk or both in your schedule while you focus on the learning curve that is logging?

@springlering62 Thank you. Youā€™re so right about the going for a walk part. I used to make time in my day to do it but with homeschooling and all the associated madness that went with it, it went out of the window. I started to feel like my work breaks were time to do household things. Iā€™ve never managed to get back to a decent routine.
