WARM LEMON WATER IN THE MORNING!! :)

I have heard about this, but cringed at the thought of it, but I finally kicked myself in the behind and decided to try it out. I've been doing it for a week now and have lost almost 4 pounds! After doing my research I found out that it regulates the bodies digestive system and gives you vitamin C. It also helps the body break down sugars better, and more. The catch though, is that you should drink it warm, which makes it much less tasty, but I just plug my nose and gulp it down like Theraflu  Has anyone MFP's tried this yet or contemplated trying it?

Just warm water and lemon?0

I haven't tried it, but maybe the water isn't what's making you lose weight. Maybe you've just been eating better/ working out more. Could that be the case?0
-
I haven't heard of this. Is it a replacement of breakfast or just start your day off with warm lemon water? How much do you drink?0
-
I'm curious about the details to. Please do tell!0

ive heard of this, used to do it ages ago but stopped. all i did was have some hot water with a slice of lemon in it.0

I tried this and could not stomach it! I found it revolting I would have loved that type of loss though! Very glad it's working for you0

I do this quite a lot- but not to replace breakfast! (I don't think that's what she's saying).
Hot water in lemon is an amazing tonic- it goes right through you and gets your system moving, so to speak, in the morning.
I have it before I eat anything. It also works well as a diuretic so it helps to banish excess water weight0 -
It sounds like the warm lemon water may just be filling you up so you don't eat as much. I know if I drink anything hot, it makes me feel full. If it's the vitamin C...why not just take a vitamin C pill? If it's in excess...it's a water soluble vitamin so you'll pee out the excess.0

How warm is warm... how about without ice or room temp? LOL0

My friend swears by this. I tried it last year along with dieting and it worked, just not sure how well.0

Not trying to start anything...but wouldn't anything hot do this? I know I have coffee in the morning and it gets everything moving for me!0 -
Mines right at 98 degrees. Make it every morning.0

-

I was told by a nutritionist that it also purges the liver of toxins and I noticed my bowel movements were yellowish for a couple of days after which they were normal. My migraines, which I had been suffering for months cleared, so something worked!0

Actually I just had a baby three weeks ago and I had such HORRIBLE water swelling in my limbs and it was painful. My aunt told me about the water with lemon and it's all I drank for almost two weeks and the weight just FELL off and within days the swelling was gone!0

Lemon is a natural diuretic and I do drink my water with lemon juice in it. I think even cold it still works the same, maybe just a little better warm though!0 -
I've heard of that as a tea with a tablespoon of honey. Same thing?0

I drink lemon water, both hot and cold, throughout the day. Sometimes I add a little powdered ginger or even chili powder! (I know, it sounds gross!) I honestly don't know what weight loss effect it has, but I use it to keep myself from eating other things when I'm not hungry. The spiciness of the ginger or chili powder makes me feel like I've just eaten.

I drink lemon water throughout the day, but never warm. Do you know what makes it different? Is this a meal replacement for you?0
-
I warm up the water just a little past room temperature, as if i'm about to make tea, and I squeeze half of a lemon into a full glass of water, then I eat oatmeal or fresh fruit for breakfast. It definitely gets your bowels moving lol but I feel more refreshed!! It's definitely worth a try if you can get past the sour taste!! And I just drink the glass before I eat breakfast in the morning, and you can also do a glass before bed but I haven't started that yet, if at all!
Here is a link explaining it all!! http://www.outofstress.com/lemon-water-lose-weight/0 -
Yes I have had this though not in the morning. Lemon with hot water or herbal tea. Lemon does contain vitamin C and makes great tea.0

In the book "The 17 day diet" it speaks of this. I like it because its like a super cup of coffee. Its so sour and gross it wakes me up instantly lol0
-
I would love to know the science behind this. The only link referenced above is a livestrong article that quotes another article in the Daily Mail (*cough*)
Vitamin C is found in abundance is most fruits.
Methinks this is a potent placebo effect at work here - unless someone can show me a study by a medical journal.0 -
how much do you drink? do you put lemon slices in it or just squeeze a lemon or use lemon juice? i need directions! lol0

Well this is an age old thing from India all the supposed yoga gurus, those who live in the Himalayas a lot of Indians are aware of the honey water with honey in the am.
Technically lemon/ lime is a cleanse,r cleanses is the liver. though acidic becomes alkaline in the stomach and as for warm water according to Indian medicine warm water is used for detoxification. In the west cold water is good to burn calories but eastern thought is after a fatty meal fennel or warm water is good to burn fat.
I have tried that innumerable times honey and lemon definetely good all spas will do this and the new book 17 day diet recommends it.0 -
My mum swears by this in a morning, but I think because it's warm it relaxes certain muscles and allows things to move along instead of the body having to warm it up. I might start having his with breakfast just to get things moving or so to speak. Lol0
