If there were magic weight loss pills, there wouldn't be fat people. Slow and steady weight loss is your best chance for sustainability.9

There is no magic pill. Consuming fewer calories than your body requires is the only way to lose weight. It is an inherently slow process. If there was some magic pill, nobody would be fat.6

Number 1 suggestion: don't. There is not a way to lose weight quickly that does not damage your body. Human bodies storing excess energy as fat was a feature 10,000 years ago, when we all had to work a lot harder every day to scrape together a couple thousand calories' worth of food, if we got really lucky; now that we have things like drive thrus and DoorDash, it's a bug. The body is still running on that 10,000-year-old software that intentionally makes letting go of that stored spare energy a very slow process, because that's what you want when you can't summon enough calories for an entire day+ to your home in 30 minutes or less with the push of a button.
Any pills or other supplements being hawked to "lose weight instantly!" are either stimulants of varying potency (which do suppress appetite, but they are also chemically addictive), or some kind of "fat blocker," which are an expensive way to ruin all your favorite pants (and relationships). It also doesn't teach you anything about how to eat food, which you will still need to do in order to stay alive after losing all that weight "instantly" - so if you just do speed until your body is an acceptable size or s*** yourself thin with Alli or whatever, then go back to eating the way you do now, you're going to gain it all back and it'll probably bring friends.5 -
There are no supplements that will defy the physics of calories in and calories out. There are some drugs that can modify the calories in, such as fat blockers, but those come with horrendous side effects like anal leakage if you actually eat fat.
There are also drugs that can modify the calories out side of the equation, but these tend to be stimulants, which are incredibly unpleasant. Basically, imagine drinking a few pots of coffee. The level of agitation is brutal, plus they come with a horrible crash, plus other side effects, and tend to be highly addictive.
Then there are drugs that make you poop. You will lose a few pounds by emptying out your intestines of content but it will come right back, and has literally nothing to do with your fat levels.
The only way to lose fat is to burn more energy than you consume, and the faster you do this, the more your body will fight back. So the faster you try to lose, the more of a losing battle you are fighting.
Why are you set on trying to lose weight fast?7 -
Basic rule of thumb for weight loss supplements: If it works, it's not legal... if it's legal, it doesn't work.10

My suggestion? Don't. Put your patient pants on, suck it up, get a digital food scale and start weighing and measuring all food and drink. Get your daily calorie goal and stay within it everyday. If you don't want to do that, you're just not ready. Come back when you are. Good luck.5

Seriously, what the other people said. There's no magic. Your body can only lose a certain amount of fat per day, and no supplement that claims such magic can change this. The only thing those things does is decrease the weight of your wallet.3

The only "dieting supplements" that are effective will also cause you to lose your job if you get called in for a wizz quiz and will get you hit with criminal charges if you're caught in possession of them (in the US at least), if you get my drift.

Intermittent fasting is just changing/restricting the times you eat. It has nothing to do with what or, importantly, how much you eat. No guarantee that IF will lead to any weight loss as you may just eat as much as before.3

A rule of this website is to not promote very low calorie diets. They should only be done under medical supervision.
edit: ah, comment I was referring to was removed.0 -
It took time to gain the weight and it will take the same time, if not more to lose it FOR GOOD.
Sure, you can do crazy things to lose it for a short while - but if habits are not sustainable then your weight loss will not be sustainable.
Change your habits, be in a calorie deficit everyday and if you hate working out then just walk for 30mins a day.
Create mini lbs lost goals - not the entire amount in one go and celebrate those mini milestones.
If you do this properly it will be so much more rewarding.2
