I started at a 42DDD/F and am now down to a 34DDD/F and wear a size 10... what is the difference between UK and US sizes.. wish I could be more of help.. but it seems there were alot of response and some great ideas..0

I was a big UK16 and 5ft 9 six months ago, I'm now a UK 8-10 (depending on shop) and 3 stone lighter. So I reckon a 12-14 coat would have fitted after losing around a stone and a half. If it's a coat you love, keep it as an incentive. Weirdly my last M&S bra fitting made me go down in width size but up a cup size! Good Luck0
