Log your calories every day. Stay under goal. Exercise a couple times a week alongside (don't overdo it to start if you're not used to it)4

It is interesting that I saw this on this particular day. 16 years ago this morning I had RNY gastric bypass surgery. I start out at 307 pounds and had to lose down to 280 (or thereabouts) before they would do the surgery. Part of it is for surgery safety, but some of it is to see just how dedicated you are to this journey. It DOES take dedication. The best thing you can do is to start eating following their recommendations AND to log it all faithfully. That is my regret. I didn't log my food and I should have. Drink your water faithfully as well. Get everything out of the house that tempts you.
This road is NOT the easy way out. It is a tool for the rest of your life. Practice eating well now. It will make a difference. Work on your coping techniques if you are someone, like me, who eats out of stress, boredom, or depression. You can gain the weight back so practicing good habits now is imperative. I worked on a second master's degree (in my late 50s and while working and teaching full time) ...and put back on to not quite 200 pounds. That was my limit. COVID 19 hit and I was determined to get everything back under my control. I lost about 40-45 pounds on WW, gained about 10 pounds back (stress will do that to you), and started a Keto study program on my campus. Since October I have lost about 25 pounds and was 137 this morning. I say all this to reiterate--START NOW developing those good habits. EXERCISE (start slow and walk with some 2 pound weights)...and keep up the exercise as soon as you can after your surgery.6 -
Keto. 20 total carbs a day, moderate protein based on your weight now and fat added to food only for taste or if still truly hungry 20 minutes after eating meal. 2 -3 meals a day and if possible no snacks and whole foods only. No packaged foods except veggies or meats. This works but some people are miserable doing it. If you are not ready to change any thing you try might fail, or might having you feel miserable. Weight control really is a mind game before a numbers game. Best advice ever ? Why ? Why are you wanting the change ? You have to keep this focus and this does it. My why ? My whole family is diabetic, i work as a nurse and have seen people way too young having heart failure, kidney failure and losing limbs. NOT for me ! Prayers you succeed !1

There are a lot of benefits to exercise , but weight loss is not one of them. Try Intermittent Fasting. Reduce your insulin and lose weight. Read Jason Fung’s book Obesity Code.2

Track your food and set a reasonable calorie goal that you can stick to without starving. Start with small sustainable changes. Same with exercise. If you haven't done much, then start with a 10 minute slow walk and gradually build up. You can do several 10 minute walks during the day. And talk to your doctor or a nutritionist about what to eat.
good luck to you!3
