Meal amounts

Hi, is it better to have 3 meals per day, or wait until 12 to have breakfast so I am fasting as long as possible. I'm confused about the information. Is fast 800 a better option than 2/5 fasting?

Fasting isn’t necessary. There’s no benefit to it, other than some people have a natural or preferred tendency to clump their calories together.

You won’t lose weight any faster or any slower by fasting. Calories are simply fuel for your body. It would be like asking if your car uses more gas in the morning versus at night.

Weight loss comes from eating less than you burn, whether by controlling food intake or exercise. Or a combination.

If fasting works for you, roll with it. Me, I prefer a slow drip of meals and snacks from the time I get up to right before I hit the sack. Knowing a bite is only an hour or two away at most relieves my anxiety.

Okay, thank you for the input. I'm not really trying to fast, I'm just not a big eater in general and getting alot if mixed info on the fact that I should be eating more regular meals. Just trying to find a way to shed these kilos and be more able bodied and healthier.

Sam, do what works for YOU and is convenient for you.

There’s people here who work 12 hour shifts, or nights, of 2 on/3 off. Their schedules are completely different than the rest of us but their enforced meal timing hasn’t affected their loss at all.

99% of it is CICO (calories in/calories out). As long as you’re eating at a deficit (eating less calories than you eat) you should lose weight.

Make sure you’re weighing and logging accurately. I converted from cups and spoons (highly inaccurate) to grams. It was a puzzlement at first but holy cow does it make cooking easier. If you’ve got an Apple Watch or Alexa, you can simply ask “Siri, how many grams in a cup of flour” and she responds instantly til you get the hang of it.

As far as able bodied, I started with residual severe joint pain, from some earlier illness. I started by simply walking. That’s the best, cheapest and most available exercise on the planet. I now do weightlifting (nothing earth shattering but I’m consistent), power yoga, walk, Pilates, and aquafit. Running is on hiatus due to an ischial issue. Yes, I took up running at 57, having never run since seventh grade. Each provides different benefits and I enjoy all of them.

The key is finding something you look forward to doing. “Motivation” may get you off the couch the first few times, but looking forward to it is sublime and the joy of getting out keeps you going.
