My husband is like me, a former athlete turned couch potato, turned intermittent exerciser, turned frustrated intermittent exerciser who spent way too much time *****ing about it. I think he’s finally making the final leap into “I’m so frustrated about it I’ll calorie count.” When I first started doing this he sort of scoffed at me, then he was critical of the time I spent doing it, then he was super supportive, then he would occasionally make off handed comments about my decision (“hun, you’re the only person who thinks of food in terms of ounces”), and the other day he finally said “well, I don’t want to do it, but I think it may be time to start calorie counting. I mean, it’s worked well for you, right?”
I sort of feel bad for him, as I know his frustration to an extent but where I was athletic, he was an elite athlete. He made Olympic trial cuts in college, putting an insane number of miles in the pool every day, but was not mentally there to actually attend an Olympic trial event. Now he’s over weight, slightly out of shape, and thinking he can still push his body the way he used to. If anyone remembers any of my posts, you may remember the one where I was concerned for his hr spikes. He’s going to see a cardiologist, but I really think it’s because he’s not used to being out of shape and is having a difficult time coming to terms with it, this is what it looks like on his body. I love him no matter what shape he is, as he has loved me in all my different glories, but I would love to see him get back to “fighting weight” too . . . man he had a banging body.

That's so great! I think it helps to have the camaraderie. My husband is doing MFP with me as well but he's hit a wall recently and is tired of counting calories. I gotta help him stay motivated!

Good luck to your husband and congrats on your weight loss!

Be persistant too... I resisted, and resisted... Then, oneday I found it on "my own" and tried to tell my wife... she laughed and said oh thats cool... I will try it. Only to remind me she had been using it for a long time!!

It's been really difficult for me not to push him to do it and to just try to get him to come to this decision on his own. I knew that if it were my idea it would just be tossed out of the window, but now that it's his idea I can help him along the way. I've waited 7 months to come this close to seeing him live a healther life, I just hope he's not leading me on, LOL!
