Success of the week: My mass moderated to the middle of my ideal range. It's back to where it was in late October 2020. That was about a month into my COVID weight gain. If I stay at this weight I should be satisfied. That and a good annual physical exam.

Struggle of the week: Another stressful week at work. A couple nights of not enough sleep. Last night was my own fault; I had the smoker going, it it just took many many hours longer than I thought it was. The second shoulder finished a little before 05:00.

Successes/struggles of the week: My average weight is still on the high side, and there was another spike up to 115.6 at the beginning of the week, with a drop down to 112.8 the next day. Successes/Struggles:
    May 2nd,
April was a quiet month – a couple of days out and a short visit with my daughter, even Easter was low key. So, I’m starting May in a good place weight-wise.
However, I have holidays coming up now – we’ll see how that works out. Flying out to Kos later in May – first flight for over 2 years!

    May 9th:
I was away in my motorhome for a few days last week. Did lots of walking (sightseeing) and came home a little lighter than before I went away in spite of ice cream, beer and cheesecake!
This week I fly out to Kos for 2 weeks but weight wise I’m in a good place and I will be cycling, walking and swimming while I’m away.

I posted in the April thread by mistake - but I've found the right place now!

    Current Height/ Weight on 5/10/2022: 5’4”, 132.8
Weight lost since May 2021: 22 pounds
Time it took to lose: 11 months with 12 pounds of it lost between Feb and May 2022 after diet, lifestyle change.

How long on maintenance: 1 month. Goal is to stay between 132 and no more than 135.

    Success/struggles:
Pandemic was a food challenge for me. Before pandemic, Lost 30 pounds and was down to 138 in Spring 2019. Maintained until pandemic hit February 2020. Other than weight training twice a week, became couch potato and started making higher fat homemade meals, bread, treats. Gained 20 + pounds.

Wake up call from doctor Jan. 2022: pre-diabetes A1C level, high blood pressure, triglycerides. Completely changed diet in January 2022 with dietician’s help and increased exercise. Have lowered BP 20 pts.

Main challenges: Enjoy well prepared food, especially French and have had to substitute/experiment with different lower fat flavors. Sweet tooth a challenge.
April/ May have been a challenge: granddaughter’s birthday party, my milestone birthday dinner out, anniversary dinner out, , Easter get-together, family visits. Have been able to maintain weight even with birthday cake, dinners out, by etc., by eating small portions of these foods and continuing on dietician’s recommended personal food plan ( low sodium, lower fat, protein every meal, whole grain every meal, smaller amt of starchy carbs, higher amts of green vegetables, reduced wine intake 0 to 1 4-5 ounce glass, not two).

Main exercise: walking 3-5 days a week, weight training twice a week with trainer.
Challenge: hate walking outside if it’s below 50 degrees or raining and tend to skip. Hate walking on treadmill. Love walking briskly outdoors when it’s warmer/ no precipitation.

Success of the week: I turned in paperwork announcing my imminent retirement. I am in first place in the Spring Fitness Challenge at work. I only update once a week on Tuesdays. The challenge ends 28 May, and people have until 5 June to enter their data. I may end up ahead of everyone, and I won't be there to accept any kudos since I'll be retired.

Struggle of the week: I was surprised how unsettled I felt the day after I turned in that paperwork. Then yesterday I went to the post office to send my retirement application package to the State, I got giddy again. I expect the unsettled ennui will return on and off for a while.

I'm not updating as I'm away on holiday!
I've been cycling every day in the morning and swimming in the afternoon. Breakfasts have been sensible, lunches ok and dinners have been eating out in restaurants. I have had a beer, a glass of wine and a couple of ice creams but overall, not too bad.
Another week away, I'll find out the damage when I get home.

    Total Weight lost: 30 pounds
Time it took to lose: ~6 months
How long in maintenance: Since July 2018 -- but with some fluctuation outside of goal range.
    Maintenance weight range:
    Ideally 145 - 150
    Absolutely 143-153

(STILL not sure those are the right answers)

    Weight History:
Average weight recorded from 2017 (12 months): 163.8
Average weight recorded from 2018 (12 months): 150.7
Average weight recorded from 2019 (12 months): 144.8
Average weight recorded from 2020 (12 months): 147.1
Average weight recorded from 2021 (12 months): 153.4

Average weight recorded from January 2022: 151.8
Average weight recorded from February 2022: 152.9
Average weight recorded from March 2022: 151.2
Average weight recorded from April 2022: 150.2

    Average weight Week of...

    May 2 - 8 .......................... 148.3
    May 9 - 15 ......................... 146.9
    May 16 - 22 ....................... 149.0
    May 23 - 29 .......................
    May 30 - June 6 ................

Success of the week: I took half the week off to practice my imminent retirement. I think I will enjoy it. I am still in first place in the Spring Fitness Challenge at work. It ends on 28 May, and teams have until 5 June to enter data. I won't be there to taste victory, and I'm OK with that.

Struggle of the week: I have been celebrating. The scale confirms that there's a price to pay for that.

Congrats on your imminent retirement! I’m super jealous! Think of all the activity you’ll get when you no longer have to go to work!

Thank you @LiveOnceBeHappy. I will need to add activities to make up for not spending about an hour a day on my bicycle commuting to and from work. I can still bike to do errands, so that's a no-brainer. I took off Thursday and Friday for a "practice run" of retirement so to speak. Each day I have walked into town, went to the post office, and then down for a bagel and back. It's about three miles, and I can see a daily or near daily walk to town could be part of a healthy routine. A trip to the library to read the paper. A stop at the post office to pick up mail. A stop at a grocery for fresh produce. Maybe a slice of pizza or a taco.

I also have been really enjoying more regular walks through the 500 acre park near my house to watch the progression of flowering plants over the season. Soon I'll wander farther afield. There's some other trails that are within bike distance. For others I might actually get the truck out to go visit places I haven't seen in a while. There will be LOTS of paddling!

Just an average week. Lots of outside exercise working in the garden kept me out of the kitchen.
