I have always been a big girl, never really heavily over weight, but always bigger. I lost a whole dress size for my wedding, and then I gained back all that weight plus some extra. I am constantly around lots of girls who are so skinny and tan and always wearing cute little outfits that I wouldn't even try on in the dark.

So here I am.. I am trying to lose weight. But not just to be skinny, I want to be healthy and feel better about myself. I want kids one day and i want to be at a healthy weight so that I don't have any extra complications or issues. I also want to be a positive role model for my kids. How do you tell a kid to eat healthy and use their muscles when Im so overweight? I also want to feel better about myself. I am young and its hard to make good choices about eating, often I have some homework or some test to study for so I think well I'll just grab dinner at some fast food restaurant. But Im trying to eat healthier, and eat things that are fruits and vegetables and Im actually trying to exercise.

Good luck to everyone else!!

First of all love yourself! You are worth loving no matter what size. Next, you are losing weight for all the right reasons. I am a bigger girl. I have big legs and no matter how thin I get, my legs are still going to be bigger than the skinny-minnys. I accepted that I am not going to have a perfect body. That's what you have to do. Get to a weight that feels comfortable for you; a weight that you feel good about yourself and don't compare yourself to others. We are all unique. Just get healthy and happy! That's what we're all here for. good luck!!!

I absolutely second what she said! I was heavy ALL my life until I had children, then I made the decision to get HEALTHY for me, my husband and my boys. I know I'm never going to be skinny, but I'm so much healthier now than I've ever been. I'm still going along on this journey, and not yet at my goal, but this is the place to help me find it! Good Luck to you! Friend me if you'd like, I'd love to help motivate!

The longer you do it, the easier it becomes. A journey starts with a step. Congratulations on taking your first step.

You can do this. Feel free to add me as a friend, if you'd like.

Two suggestions. I'm guessing that fast food will always be a temptation, given your lifestyle. If you have an internet-capable phone or an iTouch, add the Myfitnesspal app. That way, you can keep track of your calories on the fly. Second, go onto the local fast food restaurant websites and google up their menus - including calorie content. Keep those menus handy so that if you're either tempted to cheat or in a situation where you have to grab something or you don't eat, you can make the decision on what to order before you get there. I know that's helped me enormously. It's easy to just guess on calories going through the driveway. It's harder to be "bad" when you're faced with the facts.

    Good luck!
