I noticed last night that sitting with my legs crossed is easier than before. I am just a month into this and was bummed that my weight seems to be coming off my legs and arms and not my waistline. But it was nice to see the benefit from it. Guess I needed to lose there too and I didn’t realize it.14

I had to work offsite last week in the office of a MAJOR feeder. There were bowls of chocolates along the conference table, 3 dedicated snack tables full of nothing but junk, a soda fridge, and a beer fridge. I touched none of it and stayed on plan all week.29

I've been absent for a while, and I gained back about half of the weight I lost while here. NSV is that instead of being discouraged, I knew that I had done it before and therefore can and will do it again - and do even better than last time22

Got invited to go swimming while visiting relatives. Did not pack a swimsuit, as the ones I own are too big. Bought a last minute swimsuit- size 12! It was a smidge tight, but it looked good on me. Even got a little bit of a tan.18

I realized today that my posture is better. The strengthening exercises are paying off. I have a long way to go but it is nice to start seeing results from my work.14

I finally broke down and went clothes shopping to pick up a few things I need to get me through the summer. I was so excited NOT to have to shop in the plus size section!

I hope it's ok to link to the blog I wrote this morning. I didn't even realize it was an NSV until a friend pointed it out. Thanks! If it's not ok to link, let me know and I will copy it here.https://myfitnesspal.com/blog/Ceriusly1/view?id=5-i-almost-lost-my-pants-yay-10078713

I love this! The other day, as I was shopping, I walked right past the plus section(I have been out of there for awhile) and thought, "NEVER MORE!"10 -
My usual elliptical but today I felt good at 18 miles so I continued to 26.25 miles once again. This time my pace was slower so it took me 372 minutes. When I did it before, May 29,2022, it was 337 minutes. About a 14+ minutes/mile compared to sub 13 minutes/mile the earlier time.10

I can wear my twin sister's (larger) clothes now. I have always, always been the overweight twin. I'm still overweight, but now I can borrow her clothes instead of the other way around!16

I can see my quads in certain positions!!! This muscle is unusually strong in me but there's also a thick layer of fat covering it but when I move my leg in certain positions the fat on the sides of it disappears and I see the outline of my quads. This is so exciting! And I'm taking it as a sign that I'm succeeding at not losing a lot of muscle during this weight loss.19

Reviewing some of my fitbit data since January, when I started a mandatory must-walk-three-minutes-a-day challenge (inspired by Atomic Habits). My resting heart rate when down, down, down - but without losing any weight. (The big spike in May was a stressful time at work.)
Almost a month ago I started tracking my food and reducing calories. I'm down only 17lbs, and need to lose 100 more. But my resting heart rate is 62!!! I'm in my 30s, need to lose ~100lbs and my heart rate is only 62?!? I took my blood pressure and it was 106/80 - the lowest it's been in in years. So, I'm pretty happy with this NSV!

A neighbor I haven't seen in a while asked me if I'm losing weight. I had never told him I was trying to. Almost to the 25 pounds lost mark.22

Ran into my childhood neighbor while grocery shopping in my hometown. She didn't recognize me until I said hi to her. She's only known chubby me.20

Got just a sandwich at Arby's on the way home from camping and it felt like a normal choice -- not stressful or depriving, just normal. I did steal a curly fry from my husband, though!18

I walked 10k today and it’s been a really long time since I’ve done that! Haven’t lost much yet but I hope I stay on track!14

I play Ultimate. It's a really fun game. I've probably been playing for 20 years. I was never much into team sports. I played basketball in high school. But Ultimate is very different. No referees. Everybody calls their own fouls. "Spirit of the game" and all. Some of my most favorite games have happened to be games where my team scored fewer points than the other team (we lost), but it was against another team that exhibited a lot of that spirit.
I play in the "B" division and have for at least a decade. I'm getting old. Every year when the season is over (I play summer recreational league and sometimes spring league, but not fall or winter), I say, "Well, that's it. I think I'm retiring my cleats. I'm getting to old for this excrement." Then spring comes, and I say, "Well. Maybe......"
Summer league was cancelled in 2020. In 2021 it was a "draft" league instead of a team league. I opted out. I had lost my weight in 2018 and 2019, so I had felt a little faster that last year before COVID. This year it's back to a team league. We got many of the old (and most of us ARE older) team back together and recruited some new people. I had not yet donated my cleats to someone else, and I'm back at it.
That's the back story. Now the two NSVs. One last week, one this week.
Last week: I got to the fields early since I no longer am a wage slave. I got my cleats on, and a few people had just started to show up. Never one to run without a reason, I'm not sure what got into me, but I grabbed my disc and ran a couple laps around the field to warm up. Way in the past I might have jogged part way around the field. Nope. Full on trot. Then during our warm-up on field, I was practicing making cuts. Little sprints. That kind of thing. It all felt good. I played pretty well, and I had good field sense. I caught a couple points, and I threw a couple. All good. I was sore the next day, but ... duh.
This week: The team we played this week had a lot of fast players. Last week I matched up with someone faster than I for a point or two. One point someone on the team asked, "Everyone OK with who they're matched up with?" I said no, but when he offered to switch I also said no. I guess that's a second, but a distraction from THIS WEEK....
So there I am covering one of their faster players. During a turnover or some pause in play, he looked at me and said, "Dude, you are FAST." I denied it, but he insisted. I don't think I'm fast, but I did notice later that if I was paying attention and one of their fast people I was covering made a sprint to go long, I could keep up and that would sometimes keep the disc from coming to them. I could get faked off, but also was doing pretty good to just keep up.
I guess that's three.
Sadly, I may have injured myself tonight. I hope not... I want to play next week. We should lose next week. We play an A division team. I bet they will be a fun team to play, even if we lose.20 -
Those are the best sports to play, ones where it doesn't matter how good or bad you are, whether you win or lose, you're just having a blast playing. I hope that you didn't injure yourself too badly and that you're healed enough to play next week. Awesome NSV.7

@GSPsnBees
To be clear, we play hard, and we play to win. We play every point hard to win the point even if we are far behind. If we are far ahead, we might slack off to make the game more fun, but winning is awesome.
It's just that most people who play Ultimate are in it for the fun of the game. That's the most important.
We also are pretty vigilant about playing by the rules. No dangerous play is the biggest one. In our league, we are encouraged to call ALL fouls and picks. My team's policy is that if someone calls a foul on you, you fouled them so don't contest the foul. In the past there have been some teams that don't quite get this aspect. Often it's a group of folks who have previously played football or basketball together.
The rules of basketball suggest it's also non-contact, but if you've watched a basketball game, you'll know there's plenty of contact. Injuries happen. Ultimate is NO-CONTACT. Injuries still happen, but not too often thank goodness. "Going for the disc" is no excuse to foul someone. There's something we call a "hospital throw." That's when the disc is thrown high and it hangs before coming down allowing many players to run to that spot and vie for the disc. One came in the other day near me. I stepped back. I don't even try to catch hospital throws. There's a reason for their name. It's not a foul in that case, but there's often twisted ankles or knees or worse.4 -
Sang along to “I Wanna Be Sedated” while I jogged against a decent wind. I still managed an Avg.143 bpm during the 4 mile run.18

Standing for an entire concert and only sitting when the performers were talking was my most recent NSV!! my feet did hurt still but i toughed it out hehe, i felt so great after that night!18

I wanted to go for a jog yesterday, but I also really struggled all day. I finally made it out the house at 6pm and managed my longest jog yet. The first third felt very easy and I didn’t feel winded at all. The last third felt much harder but I hung in there 😊😊😊 I was also under calories for the first time In ages for a Saturday23

I exercised on a Sunday! I usually nap and be lazy, but Belize in January has me extra motivated.24

I went shopping at an outlet this weekend hoping to find some inexpensive clothes since I’m at a point where most of my currents are too big. I grabbed a bunch of size small shirts, and every single one was too big. I picked up a few x-smalls, held one up and said no way I can fit in that. Hubby glanced at it and said, actually that looks about right. He was right. I am still shocked because I just don’t see it when I look in the mirror.18

For about a year now I've been waking myself up by hearing myself snoring. Most days. I just realised that I must have gone 3-4 days in a row without waking myself up. I know that it's going to come back depending on my nose being blocked etc but 3-4 days is pretty much unheard of before now.25

I'm at the point where I've got some loose skin to manage. It's an NSV cause it's not full of fat anymore (or as full in some cases) and this isn't a problem I used to have. I hope some of it will shrink up, because it's annoying, but I know it's a part of the journey.21

I went for my annual physical recently and got my test results back yesterday. My cholesterol and fasting blood glucose levels are down by 10 points from what they were pre-weight loss. Woo hoo!17

I had a medical recently, 3.5 years after my diet ended:
Weight: 144 pounds (BMI 21.6) .
My cholesterol looked OK:
3.25 mmol/l total (125.7 in mg/dl, pretty low)
1.42 mmol/l HDL (54.9 in mg/dl, maybe very slightly low but acceptable)
2.3 Total/HDL ratio (decent, target is below 5).
BP 105/60.20 -
Size 10 shorts are somewhat big.21

Going overseas to help daughter move.
In a small student sized backpack I have painting clothes, two sets of workout gear, jammies, a dress and five changes of clothes, including jeans and shorts and a jacket, since it gets chill there in the evenings.
There’s plenty of room left over in the backpack for the Nutter Butters and Samoas she asked me to bring. My checked bag is full of painting and moving supplies, and gifts.
In the old days, larger clothes would have taken up the entire checked bag.
I keep reviewing my list because, surely, I’ve forgotten something. It doesn’t seem normal to be able to get by with a backpack.32
