Hello people!
I'm new to myfitnesspal and desperately need your help to figure something out for my weightloss plan.
You know after each day's food entry myfitnesspal gives a forecast..for example you'd weigh this much in 5 weeks?
Well my forecast keeps increasing every day... although I eat the same amount (the suggested 1200 calories).. like yesterday the forecast said you would be 52 kg in 5 weeks, today it said you would be 53kg in 5 weeks. Why is this happening and what can i do to fix this?
I am 54 kg, 5 feet 2 inches tall and want to lose 7 kg weight in preferable 2 to 3 months!
Thanks a bunch for your help!!

If you're imputing exercise, the results would be different every day if you're not eating back your calories (which you are supposed to do.)0

thank you for your comment
i am not exercising so not entering exercise. Only eating 1200 calories everyday, it's still showing this discrepancy in forecast.0 -
Same problem here. Last night when I ended my day it told me what I'd weigh in 5 weeks. I still had 186 available calories. Later last night I ate an 80 calorie snack. When I went in and added it this morning the red weight thingy jumped 1.5 pounds! So that 80 calorie snack will make me gain 1.5 pounds over a 5 week period? Very strange, indeed.0

Maybe because you're not updating your weight daily? Idk but take that number at the end of the day with a pinch of salt as they aren't accurate for most of us. Just do your best and the weight will come off. Remember weight loss is not linear and there will be weeks when you lose nothing and weeks when you might drop 4lbs0

80 x 7 x 5 is 2,600 calories.
While it's not 1.5 pounds, it's close to 1 pound.0 -
Your goal weight is 45 kilos? And you need to become underweight in a couple of months? Why?0

@Boogage: thanks! true that. It just annoys me not to know the reason behind the discrepancy.. though i have been updating regularly!
@Aggeliklik: My goal weight is 47 kg because I looked and felt the healthiest when I was that weight. Since I'm relatively short, my current 54kg is making me look fat with huge tummy and double chin!0 -
Had you updated your current weight between the two days? For instance if it's telling you you'll lose 5 pounds in 5 weeks, and you have your current weight as 196 the first week, it'll say you'll weigh 191 in 5 weeks. If the next day you show a gain on the scale and update your current weight to 197 and eat the same number of calories, then it'll say you should weigh 192 in 5 weeks.0

In my opinion that feature saying 'You'll be xx in 5 weeks" is utter nonsense. In my case - 6 weeks in - it has had no bearing to reality. None at all. I'm choosing to ignore it but surely MFP must know it's become something of a joke, no?2

I treat it as nothing more than a novelty. I don't place any stock in it.1 -

Definitely this. It's just another guide to use as a tool but with a grain of salt.0 -
You have probably set your calorie goals to the lowest setting 1200 and are undereating. It still lets you close out if you eat at least 1k calories but it is likely jumping around not based on fat gain but on your consumption of carbohydrates/emptying of your digestive tract and how that affects your daily weight fluctuations etc. and its calculation of your perceived rate of loss based on what you are eating. There is less room to maneuver in that small 200 calorie range between where it lets you close out and what your stated goals are so any errors are likely exaggerated. (Or its just a stupid, poorly designed feature to ignore and not worry about!)
As for having a “huge tummy and double chin” at a weight that is in the middle to lean end of the healthy zone right now, I sincerely doubt that. I understand wanting to be at a weight you look & feel the best at, and have myself lost weight to the lower end of the healthy BMI zone, but don’t tell yourself stories about having an unhealthy body when you don’t. It is undermining of your power and self confidence as a woman, bad for your physical and mental health, and not very supportive of people here who actually do have body issues they are struggling with. (I am sure you didn’t mean to be unsupportive, but when you start reading the really inspiring and insightful comments on this forum from people who have struggled with a lot you will see what I am trying to say however inarticulately I am phrasing it). Mostly I am concerned for you and your power and confidence. Go out there and be strong and healthy!0 -

Exactly, I always ignore that, even if you eat the same everyday in 6 weeks xx won't necessarily come true0 -

That feature is little more than a gimmick. It's a vastly oversimplified formula that assumes every single day will be exactly the same in regards to both calories and movement and that's pretty much impossible. It's a joke. No day is exactly the same as the last or the next.0 -
Old thread is old.
The 5 weeks thing has long been debunked here as nothing more than a gimmick.0 -
