My fitnesspal is changing my life.

Hi my name is monis and i lost 2 kg in just 21 days it's mesmerizing for me.
Just taking control of your calories intake can do magic. Believe me.
One thing I wanna say is that if you are here for loosing wait and not for healthy lifestyle you will not go too far with that mentality.
Make healthy eating your new life style and if will create magic for you.
Counting on your calories make it your new normal.
In this way once you loose your weight and eat with mindfullness whole your life.
Then you will never gain weight again.
Make COUNTING CALORIES YOUR NEW NORMAL.

Your title grabbed my eye. Welcome to MFP!

    Good job so far, Monis!

I think it helps a lot, too, if you’re already thinking ahead about maintenance. That’s something so many people forget, ignore, or never even think about.

Hope we see you on the boards more often!

Hey Monis, I just a rediscovering my Fitness App. I am at my biggest ever. I weighed in at 176.6. I haven't weighed that since I was pregnant with my first child. I need to lose weight to be healthier. I have got to get control of this. I see that you got control with your calorie count. So how many calories a day should I limit myself.

Have you gone into setup and profile and filled them out? You will need to enter your currrnt and goal weights, sex, height, age and activity level. Then choose the rate at which you wish to lose.

Unless you are very short, I wouldn’t select more than a pound a week, and would even consider half a pound, if not now, then pretty soon.

The temptation is to go whole hog and shoot for 2/week, but that’s intense, and can lead to yoyo cycles. Just do it slowly and methodically. That way you have enough to satisfy and time to learn new habits. Even at half a pound a week, in six months that’s 14 pounds, or 28 in a year.

I found that setting my rate of loss low, as I became more familiar with healthier choices, I actually lost fast let than that anyway.

I'm down 78 pounds since Feb and the app has been such a massive help since I'm all about routine. Logging my food everyday has kept me focused. Just gotta lose 50 more.

You definitely need to make it a lifestyle change. I started simply counting calories to stay under my calorie limit. Then I started to watch and see what made me feel full longer. Now I have (slowly) re-adjusted my entire way of eating. More fresh fruits/veggies, whole grains, and lean protein. I have reduced added sugar drastically and increased fiber. Since I have made these changes I feel full and staying under the calorie limit isn’t difficult at all. Many days I am under by a lot and need to find something to eat so I can close out my diary that day. This is my new way of eating and living. I have done various diets in the past and once I quite following those rules I gained the weight again. So I was worried that would happen again this time. But that is no longer a worry because I have changed my lifestyle and have no plans to go back. I feel so much better. I agree with you - MFP is changing my life.

Congrats on successfully making changes to improve your health 😀
