Jennifer Hudson too thin?

I was at the gym other day (of course..because that what we all do here), and they have CNN on one of the tv sets. I was watching the closed caption, so I might have missed something, but the gist of the story seemed to be that people are now saying Jennifer Hudson is too thin, and "no longer a role model for young girls".
Having just seen her most recent WW commercial (in the black catsuit), I thought she looked amazing (and healthy). She's thin, but she's still rocking some girly-curves and looks like a woman (unlike some of those emaciated Hollywood skeletons).
Maybe she was some sort of role model for young girls when she was embracing her larger figure and still succeeding in her career, but isn't getting herself in great shape and maintaining a healthy weight just as much of a good message for young girls these days? I would think in light of the childhood obesity statistics, this is a good thing!
So, what do the rest of you think of this?

she looks great, but she isn't too thin.0

they'll write anything to sell a story....she looks fine.0

HAHA. Love that..
I think she looks good as well! I think she has WAY too many people around her for her to get that far. However, Some may say it just because they might envision her as a curvy black woman that she should be larger.0 -
I think she looked great before she lost the weight and now I still think she lookes great!!!! I think the people that are saying that she is too thin is the people that have never had to struggle with their weight and now that she las lost the weight they still want to find something to say about her!!! I am proud of her!!!:happy:0
-
If she's too thin, then I can go ahead and stop dieting! She's not even CLOSE to "too thin"!0
-
She looks great, and she isn't too thin. She still has some weight on her. They put her in 4 inch heels which makes her look a lot thinner. And seriously, she's embracing healthy and moderate eating. Do they want her to be heavy so that heavy kids don't feel bad? Everyone should be following her example of trying to be healthy, and she's a better role model now.0

Noo way she is still curvy..she looks hot. It's incredible how far she has come.0

Exactly. And why aren't they saying anything about people like Megan Fox. If we're going to talk about too thin they should be directing it where it's deserved. Put Them two side by side and people will get the picture. She is healthy and looks great!!0 -
This is why I don't watch CNN...0

People will never be satisfied. Yes, she looked great when she was a little on the heavy side. She is a great artist and she loved herself. But, she also wanted to get healthier and when they are paying you millions to lose weight, hell you gotta do it or you don't get paid. That is my honest opinion. She looks great now, too.0

I think she looks great, that's what happens when you decide to be healthy there's always some out there hating on you. Don't let the negativity prevent you from doing what you feel is right for you. Look at how everyone was hating on Monique when she decided to loose weight because she wanted to be healthy to see her twins growup.0

NOT TOO THIN YET...BUT DOES NOT NEED TO LOSE ANY MORE WEIGHT. SHE LOOKS AWESOME NOW! BUT WHEN LARGE FRAME WOMEN LOSE TO MUCH WEIGHT THEY LOOK LIKE A BOBBLE HEADS TO ME!0

Too fat... too thin. Sometimes, you can never win.0

LOL..me neither, but I was a captive audience on the stepper!
Thanks all...I was curious if I was crazy or not for thinking she looks really great. I don't know why people think she should continue to be the "fat girl with the great voice and pretty face" instead of the whole package.
I guess that's one of the many things that's wrong with the media. They pick on someone when they're heavy, and then tear them apart if they go ahead and get thin...very sad!0 -
She looks amazing. so sad what happened to here family (I only just read what happened). She deserves to be happy and not have people making fun.0

I think this is the answer to your question.
I think younger celebrities are less susceptible to the criticism about being overweight because that is the norm in American society now. If you look at older celebrities, like Kirstie Alley, who used to be thinner and then gained a lot of weight, they take a lot of heat for it. They were thin before because they HAD to be. You couldn't get a job if you were overweight back then. Once their careers winded down and they put on some pounds, the media treated them like circus freaks with all the before-and-after photos and the "This is what she looked like 20 years ago!" headlines.
You don't have that as much today in most segments of the entertainment industries. There are a lot more overweight actors now, and especially in the music industry, being overweight is not as much of an obstacle as it used to be IF you are a great singer, like Jennifer Hudson, Adele, etc. So people will point to Jennifer Hudson and say "Oh, it's so great that she can be successful even though she's chubby ... what a great role model she is for overweight kids who are afraid to be who they are." It's such a load. Jennifer Hudson is not a better singer because she lost weight, but she is a better person and a better role model because she said to herself "I can change this," and then she went out and changed it. She set a goal, she worked hard on it, and she attained it. That's what overweight kids need to learn from.
Unfortunately, now, our society teaches kids that there's no such thing as failure, and thus, no point in trying to reach for anything better. They're all in for a rude awakening when they get to the real world and people suddenly expect them to try harder.0 -
"Too thin" is such a subjective term these days, and everyone thinks they know what is best for everyone else.
People tell me not to lose weight because I'll be "too thin," or because I'm "already too thin."
Well, okay by my BMI I'm not overweight, but I am about 8 pounds away from being there. Figured I'd be proactive and take control of the situation in advance.
Plus, I'm trying to get down to what was my natural weight for most of my adult life... and nobody thought I was "too thin" then.
I just don't like the phrase... unless someone is actually underweight and their health is at risk, give it a rest!! lol. Back to the original topic, Jennifer Hudson looks great.0 -

I couldn't agree more....just yesterday a co-worker said to me "you better stay off the treadmill or you'll get too skinny"...ugh!
#1, I'm still catagorically 'overweight'. Granted, I'm only 3 lbs from the "healthy' BMI range, and since I'm tall, I hide it well (at least that's what I tell myself), but its not wrong to want to be in the middle or lower end of that range so you don't have to constantly worry about slipping back there.
#2, I am on the scale with me every day...I KNOW what I weigh, and its not too little.
People can be idiots!0 -

This is a problem for me, too. People in your everyday life only think you're too thin when you look better than they do. Classic projection.
I love my sister to death, but she does this to me a lot. We're twins, but we're fraternal in every conceivable way. She was always the tall, thin one, and I always the short, chubby one. Now, I get called "little" and "tiny" pretty much every day, and my sister has put on a good 30 lbs in the past few years.
So every time I send her a picture of me (I live in TX, she lives in AZ, so we don't see each other a ton), she tells me I look anorexic (which is clearly not the case). Our birthday was last week, and we talked to each other on Skype, and she made some joke about me disappearing and how when she comes to visit in a couple of weeks, the whole family should place bets on how much I weigh. I honestly think it makes her feel better to say things like that.0 -
Jennifer Hudson is hot.
she was hot heavy
and she's hot thin.
she is just HOT.
and she has the self esteem to back it up, which only makes her more attractive.
ppl just like to talk *kitten*.0 -
There were recent photos of her and she's lost more weight than in that WW commercial.
I think she is still a role model...while it's ok to love yourself, it's not ok to be unhealthy. To me she shows everyone that you CAN do it.0 -
Too fat... too thin. Sometimes, you can never win.
Exactly. Women simply will never be able to get by without someone finding something to criticize.0 -
Actually, I think there is a wide range of acceptable weight for women. The media just makes it seem like it is very narrow. I think for the average woman there is probably a range of about 25 lbs + or - average that is perfectly fine.0
-
She looks HEALTHY!
There is always someone who will criticize something (unfortunately)0 -
I think she looks fabulous and hollyweird needs to get a hobby besides talking smack about people. . . She has really done a phenomenal job and worked hard for every bit of it!0
-
Just to play Devil's Advocate, Jennifer Hudson has lost a lot of weight since she shot the WW ads. All in all, she's gone from a size 16 to a size 0.
1) If you ask me, she's "Hollywood thin" now -- she's built like Kate Hudson, Mila Kunis, Jessica Alba, etc.
2) Going from a size 16 to a size 0 is probably not a realistic goal for most normal people. My guess is that like most Hollywood hotties, she does it by micromanaging her macronutrients, spending a lot of time with a trainer, and only dropping to her show weight when she has an appearance or a gig.
3) To WW's credit, they're using the slightly heavier photos, not holding out the current Hudson as an example.
4) I agree, she's gorgeous at all weights.0 -
This is why I don't watch CNN...

This cracked me up...but apparently Jennifer Hudson's weight is an important news story that needs to be addressed and there was a lull in late breaking news.
BTW...I think she looks awesome!0 -

I find this hard to believe, unless there are some secret, VERY thin photos of her that I'm not finding... I know she said that she was, but I don't know if it's true. I was never a 0, the lowest I've been is a 2... and I feel like I was much thinner than Jennifer is now. (See my pics, the one in a teal tank top was when I was a 2!)
Not to say anything negative about her... I think we all agree that she looks excellent. I just don't see her being a zero.0
