Where should I put my chest freezer??

So, I'm looking to move from a house - with attached garage - to a 3 bedroom apartment with no garage or basement or storage room.

I have a small chest freezer currently in my basement. Do you thihnk I could actually put it in a spare bedroom closet? Or am I bat *kitten* crazy?

Don't answer that second part...

    If there's a covered porch type of thing out back, you could maybe put it outside. But I don't see any problem with putting it in a bedroom or closet (but closets don't usually have power outlets in them).

    If it's something you MUST keep, I would think a closet/spare room would be alright.

    Maybe consider a fridge with a larger freezer so you don't need the chest freezer in the new place?

    I think the closet would work just fine as long as you have outlet where you can plug the freezer in.

    Well...if you are....then me also. I just bought a house that is wayyyyyy out in the country and a long way to town. If it snows I will probably be stuck for a while. Anyway, I am getting a little freezer also and putting it in one of the bedrooms. Better start stocking up now just in case, never know since the weather has been so wierd lately.

    Funny the wierd and odd stuff ya run into on here...hahaha...

    It's a stackable unit in a closet thingy, but not big enough for the freezer too.

    The problem with a closet is that you have to be sure you have adequate "air space" around the compressor so be sure there is a gap all the way around the freezer and that nothing falls down to block the vents around the compressor. But if you aren't in and out of it every day, just put it wherever and drape a table cloth over it and set pics or flowers/candles, etc on it ... no biggie

    Carpeted or not? Do you have animals, and if so will they be allowed in that room? Can the electricity support the circuit load... consider these things before you make a decision... ask the apartment complex about their regulations... large appliances can always create the potential fire hazard and its better safe than sorry!!!!

    I think it is technically a fire escape *LOL* And I'd probably be creating a fire hazard...

    I'm in a similar situation, except I haven't bought the chest freezer yet. Just hoping that when I get into my 3br apt I'll find a place so I can invest in one. I have an almost empty pantry, a decently full fridge, and an overflowing freezer.

    As long as there is a plug handy - you sure don't want to run an extension cord - the closet would be fine.

    Ohhhh one of those. lol Well, my thought would be to try it out in the kitchen (if there's space) for a while and maybe use it as an island by putting a cute table cloth over it or something ? That way it's functional, there when you need it, but not a total eyesore. If there isn't room, then def put it in a spare room as best you can.

    Mine is in my kitchen. Keep the toaster on it and use as extra counter space. Might work for you. Also had a friend put ti behind her couch with a nice runner on it to disguise it.

    Obviously, Han Solo isn't the only one who freezes well.

    My suggestion is this, put it in the living room. Get some pillows and a step stool and tell everyone it's a large/uncomfortable couch.

    We bought a chest freezer when we were living in a 1 BR apartment. :smile: We just kept it in the dining room (linoleum on the floor and kitchen GFI outlets available).
