Hello dear community.
I am actively working on losing 30 Kg (66 lbs). I have have lost 5 kilos and still have 25 to go.
The reason I am doing this is to improve my health (Joints pain, lethargy, feeking bloated all the timen skin mycosis in the skin folds, culpability...) but also because I am tired of constantly worring about not looking the way I want, not being able the dress the way I want (Skin chafing, not finding clothes I like at my size,...). I also would like to be able to do daily activities without my belly getting on the way (Giving my self a pedicure, tying my shoes etc)
I have just started this journey (I have tried and failed before) and it gets hard sometimes.
I would like to hear the positive changes that happened to your body and also your mental health after losing a significant amount of weight.
It will help me a lot as well as anybody in need of motivation to keep going

I’ve currently lost just under 11 kilos out of my initial goal of 15 kilos. My ultimate goal is to lose 20 kilos. I started my journey at 85 kilos on 1st May 2022 but have a little longer to go.
Even though I am a work in progress, I can tell and have been told by lots of ppl that my double chin and chubby face has drastically reduced, my arms and tummy have have reduced and I’m happy to hear the compliments! I’ve also been told I look much younger than my actual age 😊
I can feel that my mental health has improved, I’m a lot kinder to myself and have much less self loathing and less telling myself off for making one bad meal choice.
I like how my body looks now and am excited to see the final result.3 -
Loving how my body looks in clothes and naked.
Being able to run up the stairs to my 3rd floor co-op without getting winded.
Feeling confident inside and outside.9 -
You don't have to go into this with a big bang approach. Start with something small. A whole life change, executed all at one time, is overwhelming. Smaller changes are easier to make into habits. A true habit is like brushing your teeth. It's a big key for long-term weight stability.
Learn to experience the pleasure of the process, while reaching your dream weight.12 -
I am not sure if this is what most people would consider success, but after losing 125 lbs (with 12 more to go) people still do not recognize me. In fact most admit, "if it wasn't for your husband, I wouldn't have known it was you." Of course, the ladies that are most suspicious will walk up to him and demand to know where I am, as in who are you with - shame on you!
The husband even says I look so different he doesn't know who I am anymore. Still me ya'll!24 -
I began exercising daily and using MFP in January. I have lost 45 lbs so far and am half way to reaching my ultimate goal and moving into maintenance.
The pain that I had been experiencing in my feet, knees, and hips have improved to the point that they rarely hurt at all.
When I went to the Dr for my annual physical in June my blood glucose and cholesterol had each decreased by 10 points, putting me back into the normal range.
My apnea has improved such that I sleep better and have more energy during the day.
I no longer become out of breath climbing a flight of stairs.
My stamina, flexibility and balance have all improved.
I am no longer limited to shopping in the plus size section for clothing.
I am able to comfortably sit in an airplane seat and the seatbelt fits with room to spare.
I have more confidence and feel less self conscious about my appearance.
I no longer beat myself up if I exceed my calorie/macro goals for one day. I know that one day is not going to break me.
It will probably take me about twice as long to lose the next 45 lbs and I'm okay with that. This is a lifelong commitment!

Thank you everyone for sharing your experience.
I am really looking forward to seing some resulats. I think physical pain, the guilt, and being able to shop as I please are the change I am most excited about...
Good luck to all of us3 -
Lovely to hear people are feeling better in themselves.
I'm currently 38kg down and my two main improvements have been:
- No longer being out of breath walking room to room (blamed that on long covid to avoid facing facts that I was 150lbs overweight)
- Not having what felt like burning napalm in my throat every night from the acid reflux of drinking 5 cans of pepsi each day.
Other than that, just the nice comments from people noticing how I look younger now and feeling happier to look in the mirror and have photos taken1 -
Hi I’m 22 lbs down out of a total 50 to lose so about half way. Things I have noticed that make me feel great:
Easier to do things around the house and garden - bend over, balance, walk fast and jog/sprint to catch buses or trains when I’m late. I am wearing clothes I love I forgot I kept in the loft 1/2 sizes smaller. Buying a new belt and shoes being roomier. I can crouch down and not have my ankles & knees fit to burst. Keep going and good luck!!5 -
@Coldcitytoo I am so happy for you, it's crazy how we think some things are normal only to find out they were not once we lose the weight.
Also, I would love to be able to sit confortably ?? I mean I never know what to do with my legs since I can't cross them, and I am always slouching due to heavy breasts and weak back and chest muscles...1 -
Fitting into my 21 year old daughter's hand me down size small short set with crop top... felt damn good8

@cosobsession "I am always slouching due to heavy breasts and weak back and chest muscles"
For me, the weight of my top has changed significantly! My shoulders and back are not struggling like they used to, my shoulders especially! They constantly hurt, and the bra bands would dig and dig until I had a constant shoulder muscle separation. I am still a little top heavy, but not as top heavy. However, I will say that the first 100 pounds lost seemed to come mostly from the bottom half, as much as I preferred maybe more from the top. I was just glad that I lost any up top. I had read that some ladies who lost weight, and their bra cup didn't change at all *shudders at the thought*.
At the beginning of August, I went in for my mammogram and the clinician said, "So how much weight did you lose?" and then she said, "I don't have a picture of your face, the reason I knew is that I had to do 10 pictures to get it all in last time - and now I will only have to do the normal 4."
I am telling you, it is such a relief!!!! This reason alone is worth it, and again everyone is different in if/how/when they lose the ladies or don't. I went from DDD+ (yeah, I didn't have the kind of money to buy the kind of bras I needed) to a workable D which is at most stores in a reasonable price.

@justanotherloser007 I’m still…despite 75 pounds lost and at a healthy weight… a DDD. Sigh.3

My victory today was immediately chucking the Soft Surroundings catalogue into the recycling. Don’t get me wrong, I was incredibly Grateful to this company for selling jeans that looked normal but were comfortable when I weighed 75 pounds more. But so happy I don’t need them anymore and can wear size 28 waist (which is a size 6 in US women’s jeans) in stylish brands with ease8

I will have more to add later. After my current weight loss of 46 Pds. I can reach parts of my body I could not before. I can pick off stuff from the floor. I can clip my own toe nails.6

My success story in 2020 I lost nearly 60 lbs. in 2021 I kept saying I’ve got to take control but I didn’t. I gained all but 3 lbs back. I’ve always been active but my blood pressure at age 66 they want to put me on medication. My success is that July 1 , 2022 I Took my life back. I’ve had real good , bad days. The food at the party was good. The quantity was bad. . I wrote down what I could remember exercised, ate sensibly the next days. This is day 60 I’ve lost 5.7 kilograms or 12.6 lbs.
My clothing fits a little better. I can see it in my face My arthritic knee doesn’t hurt as bad.10 -
Hi guys, At my heaviest in Feb. 2021 I weight a wooping 405.5lbs at 5.2feet. I did not have much of a life, was severly depressed, in constant pain, had times when I had to crawl up the stairs on all fours. I was just simply miserable. I now still weigh 262lls, and still have a long way to go, but I really feel like I got my life back, and I am enjoying the heck out of it. I even enjoy working out now. Never in a million years ever thought that would be possible 😄 I do Aqua HIIT, and rowing about 3 times a week now, combined with strenght training. It makes me feel amazing, and gives me a new focus on life, and my goals. I am not scared, nor am I in a rush to get to the finish line. I just know I will get the eventually, one small success at a time. 🤗

Congrats on starting and best of luck. I have lost right around 30 lbs and still have about 35 to go. I am starting to see the benefits. I have dropped a size in pants and shirts. I was able to go shopping for new work clothes and it was a much better experience. I found a few cute tops - and they actually looked nice on me. It was exhilarating to find something I liked instead of just something that fit and didn’t look too horrible. I am not as tired as I was. I didn’t realize how tired I was before. My confidence has improved. I know my feeling of worth should not be tied to my weight. But I feel better and I feel better about myself. So it has improved my confidence. I have found other ways to treat myself than food that was bad for me. I took a class on making stained glass that I wanted to take for years. I enjoyed it so much and know I would not have done that if I had not started down this path. The benefits are spilling into all aspects of my life. I want this for everyone. I have a few people close to me that I would love to help them find this. I haven’t figured out how to do that in an uplifting, encouraging way. I don’t want to come off as “look at me”. But I want them to feel this way. Open to suggestions 😀.2

I gave myself a pedicure today and realized that I have no more dry, cracked skin on my heels! It feels like a miracle.
It must be due to the weight loss but I had no idea my weight was causing it. I thought it just came with age.5 -

One day you'll be like me when I first crossed my legs again. I was babysitting at my son's house and the kids were napping. I just crossed them, without thinking on the couch, trying to get more comfortable. Then it hit me, "I just crossed my legs!" Then I uncrossed them and crossed them the other way. The breasts should lighten up as they are mainly fat.

I'm 90ish pounds lower than my starting point and around 30 pounds from goal. Right now I have a ton of stamina compared to before, greatly improved flexibility, increased heat tolerance, a slightly older looking but much slimmer face. Still have a lot in the stomach but I can wear mediums when I started at 2XL.
I would like to mention however that I started feeling better after having only lost ten pounds or so. I started having more energy and feeling my clothes fit better. I lost weight in my face early on. I kept getting more and more benefits as time went on. I want to mention that because weight loss can (and should) take quite a while, so it's good that we can start seeing health benefits fairly early on. It's so easy to think that you have to get near goal weight to start enjoying life more. That's what I thought, and I was so happy to be wrong!5 -

I wholeheartedly agree! I started feeling a difference after only a few weeks. Exactly as you said, more energy and my clothes fit better. I was not weighing myself at the time, I waited until about 5 weeks in to start weighing myself. But even not knowing a number, or not being able to see a difference in the mirror, I could tell that I was losing.

In the last 3 months I have lost 34 pounds. I was 217 and am now 182. I actually feel skinny. At around 185 I started feeling my old normal. But my old normal used to be around 175 or so....weird huh? I feel like I'm 175 but I still have 10 more pounds to go to get there. At 185, years ago, I would feel like I was fat and stiff and be miserable. But, after experiencing 217...185 feels great 😆 I hope to see 175 here in the next couple of months and ultimately 164. I wish I can describe how "skinny" feels to me now. I'm not "skinny" yet but I feel it. I was talking to a nutritionist last week and she asked me how I felt...I told her I'm actually starting to feel skinny. I just feel more comfortable, like my clothes hang right, like I'm not treading water anymore...if that makes any sense. I have fibromyalgia, have had surgery on both of my knees, have degenerative disk disease (I'm not sure why they call it a disease 🤔) so pain is my normal at age 38. Pain has reduced drastically. I used to get headaches most days of the week. I don't get them nearly as often. I hope the next 20 pounds I lose helps with that too. I am more energetic also. Feeling my tummy almost flat is very comforting. "Comfort" I think is the key word here. I sleep better even. You got this. You deserve this. But do take it one goal at a time. 5 pound challenges. Ten pound bench marks. Don't look at the end goal....just take the next step.5
