Tracking Phosphorous

Is there anyway to track phosphorous here? I've looked in the goals, but I don't see that I can. I went to see my dialysis dietician today and she said that all my levels were good, except for my phosphorous which was way too high. While I can control it somewhat with my phosphate binders, my dietician said she wanted me to keep my phosphorous under 1,200mg each day.

Trying to watch calories while watching phosphorous is a real pain. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

Sorry to hear that, you may just have to do it the old-fashioned way of just looking up the phosphorous content of food and trying to control it that way.

My dietician gave a list of lower vs higher phopshorous foods, which will help. I'll just have to keep up with the numbers myself. Thanks so much for the reply. :)

I also need to track phosphorus. Renal patients need to limit Phosphorus, potassium and sodium. It is hard to find an ap that helps with that.

Have you checked out Cronometer? I don’t know about phosphorus specifically, but I know it has a much more granular breakout of micronutrients.

Is phosphorus mentioned on the nutritional labels in your country? If not then it's unlikely to be anywhere in the database because most of the database is user sourced from food labels. To be honest, I don't know whether it's possible to add it at all, but food labels would be the first thing to check.

Also, did you check with your gp on this? High phosphorus is not something that should be left uninvestigated. Maybe also worth seeing an endocrinologist if it persists.

poster mentioned being ' a renal patient' so presumably is under care of medical specialist.

Unfortunately - MFP isn't going to be helpful there....it's really only good for tracking macros. Not Micros.

You might need to purchase something like MyNetDiary....IDK if Chronometer would be good to look into or not. You'll have to chk it out.
