The saying "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels"? For some reason unbeknownst to me, that saying just totally irks me. I've been seeing it everywhere lately. Does anyone else feel like this? :explode:
I completely agree. Skinny people are tough and chewy.
Wait....I think I read that wrong.
You're my favorite

That quote was actually used alot by people who were "pro-ana". Back when I was in high school I used to starve myself to lose weight and I would always go to pro ana chatrooms and websites that give you tips, "thinspiration" photos, and quotes.
I def. don't do that anymore!
But yea..that quote was used by/for "pro-anorexics."
I much prefer "Nothing tastes as good as Healthy feels'0 -

I don't like connecting a negative action (not eating) with being healthy/skinny/not-obese, etc...
Healthy - to me - tastes wonderful  (the healthy food that is, not healthy people )
My favorite quote is: Eat food. Not too much. Mostly Plants. (Pollan)0 -

You are absolutely right! It's a bean, yeah??0 -
Yes, it does. It almost bugs me as much as: "How do you like them apples". :grumble:
I never got that saying. WTH did apples have to do with anything??
I know. My dh uses it all the time. Maybe that's why I hate it. :ohwell:
Wait, that phrase is from GoodWill Hunting, right?
I've never seen it.
Don't they explain it in the movie???
Isn't there a point in the movie where Matt's character talks about "going out for a cup of caramels?" since going out for coffee is just as ambiguous?
Sorry a bit off topic.
I don't like that "skinny feels" saying either. I think its because it seems to imply one or the other. And I agree that skinny isn't the goal, healthy is
One more off topic thing -- what is dh? sahm? I know the h=husband and m=mother, but all these acronyms are driving me nuts. We need a glossary:laugh:0 -
Sorry all of you haters but ...this is my mantra when I am trying to resist something that I shouldn't be eating!
I love this saying...It keeps my mind on my goals and how I need to get there!0 -

It's so sad really. I saw a 20/20 type show not long ago and the poor girls are so desperate to not gain weight some would eat glass as a method to not eat but to fool their stomaches. I have read what I feel is ALOT on Ana's and Bulimacs and I have to say that is one of the most disturbing things I had heard...disturbing on many levels...the desperation, the scariness of what it could potentially do to a person's body ........ah it makes me so sad.
But I've been on both sides of the fence and being afraid to eat, binging, purging...well it's all stuff our mind gets tangled with and as far as being 'logical' I don't think I ever thought very logical while in the midst of any of those stages. The last couple nights I binged for the time in I don't even how long:brokenheart: :grumble: ...stress has really gotten to me, some sadness about things of which I felt I had no control and then losing my :brokenheart: BFF to suicide...I only just found out on Tues a.m, that she had killed herself on Sat. in Cali....:brokenheart:
Sad puppy here.... wow, I got off topic, I apologize it's just when I think of girls that follow the Ana sites it tears me up some are so very young (then of course one sad thought led to the next)...yikes as in 8 years old, 5 year olds worrying if their stomache is fat...and these kids are a healthy weight, not overweight....we as a society can sure give mixed messages to our children out there. Of course not all Ana followers are young but it's the young girls that come tomind when I think of it.0 -

I never really minded it but then I saw the saying 'Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels' and if I could use your terminology on this :flowerforyou: That became MY mantra for realizing I want my goal to be healthy.
So I think you and I are on the same wave length here :flowerforyou:
I'm for whatever it takes to stick to our goals in a healthy manner...each of us finds sayings that help in that way

I do know what it feels like to struggle with an ED - I struggled with bulima for decades. It's ironic, but I learned "how" to be bulimic from health class in middle school. They were doing an awareness thing about ED, and showed videos of girls suffering from this disease and the girls would talk about how they hid it, what they ate and wouldn't eat, etc. So instead of understanding that this is a disease, I took it as a short cut to "skinny-happiness". :frown:
It's been a long process towards healing and being healthly, and like any additiction, the temptation to sucumb is always there. Thankfully I've been able to manage my disease, but everyone needs to understand that ED is a disease and not something that should be taken lightly.

Strange... I always thought of it as a bloated, wordier way to say "Thin Tastes Better," the title of one of my favorite weight loss books by Stephen Gullo.
Gullo's book is filled with mantras for self-control... though only with healthy intentions. My top 3 are:
1) "I have come too far in life to take orders from a cookie!"
2) "The colors of thin are white and green. White is light and green is lean"
This is a way of remembering that white meat (or vegetable protein) and green vegetables are the best way to fill up healthily on the fewest calories.
3) "Do you like it enough to wear it?"
This is the best! Think about it... If you had to take that doughnut and put it right in your pants, you'd think twice about it, wouldn't you? Well, one way or another, that's where it goes!0 -

Yes, I hear ya about bulimia... I had lost some weight years back, I only needed to drop like 20 lbs or so and I did and felt good, then all the sudden got this odd thought...hey maybe I only need to eat 1/2 tuna sandwich, or 1/2 an apple... etc. So I began to purge each time I ate. I tell ya I had NEVER heard of such a thing, I actually thought it was something I did, never realizing others did too. I thought I had invented the concept, ah not that I'm proud of that. Of course at the time I thought OMG...how cool is this, I don't really even need food. Warped mind ...nothing logical happening in my brain then... I dunno where I got that from....seems to have just become a thought process.0 -
