would you ever sign up for a race you know you can't make because of the entry bling?

my sister's wedding is october 1 and so is the denver skirt chaser. :( i'm thinking of signing up for the race even though i know i can't make it because registering provides you with your choice of skirt and top (included - a savings of $30).

what do you think? go for it or wrong?

Well, since most of those races are raising money for charity and you paying to do the race (whether you run it or not( gets money to the charity, I don't have an issue with you doing so.
  • Is there an entry fee? If there is, is the savings of $30 really worth it?

Do you know anyone else who might want to run it? You could sign them up that way they get to run free and you still get the discount:)

Is the entry fee for the race equal to or less than that $30 you'd be saving? Cause if so, then go for it. There is no law that says just because you enter a race that you have to compete in it.

the entry fee does not go towards a charity. the entry fee is $115; the clothes (skirt and shirt) would be $145 if i bought them at full price from the website. it is something i had planned on buying at a later date. plus i have a discount code for an additional 10% off and i'll save on taxes and shipping.

$115 and it doesn't go to charity? Wow.

Anyway, so you'll spend $230 to save $30?

Could you pay the entry fee for somebody else, and you keep the swag?

Maybe I'm misreading. The cost of the race INCLUDES the outfit? If so, then sure, go for it.

thanks everyone. i think i am going to do it. i called the company that's hosting the run and they don't mind me registering just for the merchandise. :) it is actually going to save me $45 with the free taxes and shipping.

No big deal - lots of people sign up and then don't do the race (sick, injured, don't train, etc.).
