Is it too late?

Im 49. Is it too late to get back to my what I loved! I used to be so fit and now after 3 strokes, im technically obese! Ugh! I am determined to not pay attention to the age or disability. Wish me luck!

Definitely not too late. I'm 44 and dropped 115 lbs the last two years. I was a lot more than technically obese ๐Ÿ˜„ Eating more healthy has no age limit. I have Epilepsy and it doesn't stop me either. You can do it! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘โค

Definitely not too late. You have some good reasons to get started.

What are some of the specific goals you'll be working towards?

It's never too late to make improvements, as long as we're still above ground. I agree with you that the only reason to think about obstacles is to consider how to get over, around or otherwise past them, because focusing directly on them can become all-consuming, unproductive.

I started working on fitness a bit younger than you are now (mid-40s), after stage III cancer & full-bore treatment - hadn't been anything like fit before that for nearing a couple decades, at least. I lost weight from class 1 obese to a healthy weight at 59-60. Now 67, quality of life is much improved - so worth it. There've been folks here who lost weight and got fitter when much older than I was, and who did similar things in the face of all manner of disabilities.

You can, too. You have the impetus. What's your plan?

    I'm cheering for you!
