How to make friends on mfp

This might be a weird question but is there a way to add friends or does the communication only go through discussions 😊 I would love to build a support system but I am new here and not sure yet how it all works.

If you add MFP "Friends" then you can have off-forum discussions on your wall, in the feed, and in personal messages.

To "friend" someone, click their name in the forum, then "View Profile" then click "Myfitnesspal Profile" and you'll see a button at the top on their actual Profile page to add as a friend. That sends a friend request to the person. They have to accept the request, then they appear in your Friend List, viewable on your Profile page. The feed is on your Home page and it's not viewable to anyone NOT on your friend list.

Don't add me, though. I'm a terribad friend. I don't participate in the Friend feature. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

The other thing you can do is go to the "Challenges" subforum...there are many ongoing threads with lots of people who post regularly in them...I found that helpful when I was actively losing weight and wanted to be accountable. Really, the friends thing is hit or miss. Some people add you as a friend and then they never come back to the site. Very high attrition rate on this site.

Another method to "Add Friends" is to copy the username, click on Find Members at the top of this page, paste in the username... then you can see the profile and add friend. I like this method because other than copy and paste it's just one click to find the profile.

Also, you can certainly add me as a friend. I'm good with interacting when someone posts. I love when people comment on my posts as well. I'm horrible at remembering who I haven't seen in a while though. So if you stop posting I would completely forget to reach out and ask if everything is good. At least I know what kind of friend I am. :D
