cschmitz110515 wrote: »@Bex953172 I remember doing Sweaty Betty the first time you recommended. That was a tough workout! At least for me, who's not the most coordinated LOL.
Hahaha if it makes you feel better I'm still massively uncoordinated when I do it 😂😂
But, I get better with practice. Like yesterday I only did 2 and half parts out of 6 but by next week I could be doing 3 and half. Or even 4
I've never fully completed it. I've always reached 4 sets. So I need to push myself that little bit further!
The school walk doesn't seem so bad now either. It was killer that first week. My legs still ache a bit but not as bad. But theyve got the next two weeks off for Easter so I'll have to get used to it again!2 -
Yesterday was poop.
Think me and Ash were just getting on each others nerves 😂. I was in a mood again and so I didn't really eat that much.
I was starving by the time it came to dinner, I did sausage, mash and veg but was too far past hungry to eat it all.
So by the time I finished logging
I had literally eaten the same amount I exercised off?!
Like down to the calorie. 593 food and 593 exercise lmao.
I mean I know it's.bot 100% accurate anyway but it was kind funny to see
Then not funny because thats just not healthy at all.
So I know I'm not posting official goals anymore but my goal today is to EAT.3 -
Didn’t get a chance to post yesterday
Stayed in caloric goal… felt good. Apparently must be making progress because several people at work commented on looking fit which is nice. Guess that means I really had let myself go this winter 😂 off today but lots of interruptions planned so can’t put in as many miles as I’d like. That’s probably for the best.
Plan for today
Trainer ride 1
Trainer ride 2
Outdoor spin
Spruce up house
Carpool stuff
Cat litter
Stay under 2k
No food after 9
No beer
Log food
14 glasses or more of water
Apply frame protection to race bike
Look at bills

However, they are long skirts, music shouldn't move your feet before it moves your heart, anything that can be construed as non-biblical is questioned. My beliefs align with about 85% of theirs most of the time. The other 15% though is so very strict. My daughter loves Harry Potter, Twilight, listening to popular music.... essentially all the pop culture in our house makes a big problem. Wardrobes being jeans and whatever is comfy also differs greatly. Even when I listen to faith based music it's more pop and rock and r&b sounding than hymns. When they stayed in a hotel last time we got along better because we got a break for a bit. No breaks when they are in the house for a week.
This sounds REALLY DIFFICULT to deal with, I am getting hives just thinking about it!!! My father and his wife have conservative beliefs that I don't share, and neither do my daughters - so any time spent together needs to be fairly short, and preferably around some family event where there is some distraction. Too long in their company and they will start bringing up issues they know I don't agree with and am uncomfortable talking about with them - it's like they can't help poking me in the eye, but won't give me the same respect I give them by simply avoiding topics I know will be triggers. Luckily my daughters haven't been there when they've cornered me, because although they've been brought up to be respectful, they haven't been brought up to swallow their opinions when someone else is being rude...even if it's their grandparents. Needless to say my father and his wife don't have great relationships with most of their grandkids either. Anyway the cleaning of the house and having people stay with you is hard enough...luckily it sounds like you agree with most, so hopefully you can navigate the rest without a blowup during their visit. The toughest part for me would be if they tried to start disciplining my kid to align with their values...so hopefully that doesn't happen! Good luck!!2 -

Just had 2 back to back 14 hour days at work, so everything got thrown out the window. I wasn't tracking calories, but didn't go out and get lots of junk to consume (which is my go-to when I am feeling exhausted and pressured and working long hours) nor did I have any alcohol - so I'm taking those as wins!! This job is so awful - sometimes the gift of being freelance is that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel! I've only committed until mid-May, so if it stays as awful as it is right now I will respectfully decline any offer to extend...that helps me steel myself to just get through it. We're about to start a kitchen refresh so will be grateful this job is allowing me to do that...a drain for my new sink arrived yesterday and it sounds ridiculous but I am SO EXCITED for that damn drain!!! It's deep and has a tiny little colander basket to catch scraps....it's gonna look so good in our new farmhouse sink!! We're also getting a new floor and painting cabinets...so exciting!! I have to start clearing the kitchen to prepare, so will take that opportunity to clear out some stuff we don't use. Anyway.....
JFT:
1. pool workout already done!
2. track and stay within calories
3. 100 oz water
4. get outside for at least 10 minutes to feel the sun on my face
5. try not to quit my job ha ha
Hope everyone has a great day!3 -
Didn't post yesterday. Colonoscopy went well. They removed one polyp, but were not concerned. I felt pretty good after just a little "drunk" so I figured I might as well go to trivia that night. We held our own at trivia, but didn't win. We missed a few easy ones...
Funny story from yesterday morning. I was supposed to be at the hospital at 10:30, leave house at 10:00 ish. Need to have someone with me to drive me home. Puppy swallowed at sock at 9:45. Vet said we needed to bring her in immediately. Hubby is panicking that he can't get us both where we need to be at the same time. As he is rushing about he knocks over the baby gate, scaring the puppy. Puppy freaks out and poops everywhere. Hubby is now cursing, stomping about and cleaning poo. I tell him just to meet me at the hospital after he gets the dog taken care of. I mean it takes forever to actually get through the whole colonoscopy and I only need him to drive me home. He finally agrees and drives the dog to the vet. Drops her off and drives cross town to join me. During this time the dog pukes up the sock. Also there was a friend of mine in the waiting room waiting for a mutual friend. She offered me a ride home since she was already there. No harm no foul, but an amusing tale to tell.
Today, I had to car pool to work with hubby. We will go get my car later. He is still rather crabby, rightfully so. He thinks he tore his left rotator cuff the other day and is not taking it well. Can't really blame him since he just had the right one replaced in October. On the up side, our deductible for the year has been fully met. To add to his mood, his debit card was hacked and we can't access our checking account for a few days. Annoying, but not the end of the world.

@jennysweet58 At the last visit my mom tried to talk to my daughter about her being disrespectful. I let it play out to a point but then put a stop when it hit a line. My daughter is in therapy for anxiety and acting out during panic attacks. They don't always look like a panic attack, they often look like disrespect.... you have to look for the signs to see the difference. It's hard. I already walk a fine line with looking for the signs. My parents see her once a year or so and have no clue which is which. I'm really hoping to avoid that this time around.
@pridesabtch puppies are certainly an adventure.4 -

Today my nutritionist told me it’s not the food I’m eating that’s causing all my digestive issues. Apparently it’s anxiety and dehydration. I don’t know if I buy that or not, but I guess I’ll work on drinking more water and doing more yoga to chill out.2 -

I'm getting my kitchen done today too!
I mean I'm in a rental but it's so old and falling apart. My dads the landlord and he's just ripped HIS kitchen out due to an extension and he's gave me his kitchen cabinets and stuff because they're relatively new and better quality than the brand new one he was gonna buy us. But when he offered us his kitchen I was like yeah sure whatever works.
So I actually have all the wall cupboards fitted already. But today my brother is coming to rip out all the base cupboards and work tops ready to fit tomorrow!
Then all I gotta do is paint!
Although, I'm only getting new cupboards and work surfaces, were reusing the sink and oven. However he is gonna buy us a cooker hood! And he's redoing the kitchen floor for us some.point in the near future.
And don't be silly I get majorly excited over stuff like that too!6 -
@pridesabtch Your puppy story is hilarious!! Your poor husband though, I can imagine the stress 😂😂
The first dog we ever owned when I was a kid, the first day we got him he was a bit shy/nervous dog and wanted to sit away from us at first (rescue dog at 6months old) so to give him his space my dad left him down stairs with his bed shut behind the kitchen door. He was dead good, no crying or whining but then again he still had to get used to us.
I woke up the next morning to see my dad cleaning the carpet. But it was a weird carpet we had.. I want to say nylon? I'd have to ask but it was an old weird carpet I remember that. But the dog had pooped behind the door. And as my dads swung it open its just smeared across the floor in a arc shape 🤭
He was not happy, I however found it hilarious.
But then when we got Biggie, by the time potty training was done (and I was potty training Sask at the time too) we had to replace the whole lounge carpet. It was ruined!!1 -
I've got a busy day today so I'm taking a rest day from exercise
Still walking the 4 miles for school though but I'll be doing alot of organising and shifting around.
It clocked on last night that when my brother said he needed the kitchen empty, he meant.all the appliances too, not just the cupboards he ripping out. So I've got to shift the dryer, washing machine and fridge somewhere..
I'm tempted to cook something that I can stick in the fridge in case anyone gets hungry later
Atleast i could microwave it!
Good luck everyone today!2 -

@pridesabtch - OMG your story with the puppy/husband played out in my head like a screwball comedy complete with music & wacky SFX! Glad it all worked out in the end!
@pamperedlinny - I can't even fathom what I would do if my father or his wife tried to discipline my kids. I think they know me well enough to know that I would cut that off quickly and the result would be me withdrawing from them more than I already have. I'm sorry your daughter is struggling with anxiety and panic attacks - both my daughters do/did too, and your description made me think of how my oldest handled anxiety when she was younger, for a time I thought she had 'oppositional disorder' or whatever that's called. When she was overwhelmed she'd start acting out, whereas my youngest would curl up in a ball and hide in a closet. Both were probably having panic attacks...luckily I got them both some help with a therapist, and physically we found both were actually related to screwball hormone levels. Girls hate hearing that at that age because they think you're denying their feelings, and it takes time to sink in that your feelings are legit, but the hormones are taking those feelings waaayyyy out of proportion and going dark places. My oldest was finally diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which means she has a higher than normal testosterone level. I feel like me and my youngest sister probably had this too, it just was never diagnosed. Birth control pills helped both of them regulate the wild hormone swings, and the hormone aspect abated once they hit their 20's. I am feeling for you going through this right now and pray that it starts to abate for your daughter as she gets older too!3 -
@Bex953172 - upgrades are so exciting aren't they? Yes emptying the kitchen will take a while - I'm hoping the fridge can be relocated around the corner into the DR but still be plugged in and useable...it would be such a bummer to lose all my meal prep in the freezer!! I told my husband we have 2 weeks to eat what's in the freezer in case we lose it . I wonder if the contractor will move the oven completely out of the way...or move to the other side of the kitchen and do the floor in stages? That might be easier for both the stove and the fridge...I'm gonna set up a hot plate and electric kettle in the dining room so at least I can make some coffee / heat up something while we don't have a kitchen. It's gonna take a while because our contractor does most of the work himself - which is great for the price and the quality of work, the downside is it will take a lot longer. You know the saying - good, fast, cheap...pick 2! But it will all be worth it...and add to the value of the house in the end as well. Anyway hope yours goes smoothly, good luck!!2

Progress: Work on reflecting on progress. Regressive behavior is now minimal. ASK about what's scary about the room. About what else in her life (now or previously) is/was like that. Normalize putting the blankets away EVERY MORNING. Then move to doing it FIRST, along with getting dressed. What do I do about the fact that nothing really seems fun? "Having fun" is something of a chore.
14. Just for fun: Start sketching dragon on a pile of books, offering one to the armored knight, & banner that reads "Treasure should not be hoarded / It should be shared."
WFTY: Priorities. Just discouraging. BLEUGH.2020 WFTY: Progress. 2021 WFTY: Persistence. 2022 WFTY: Focus.2 -

JFT 3.31.2023 FRIDAY
today is short and sweet but extremely important. tomorrow it begins! i am focusing on balance. i have decided that is my word for 2023. BALANCE. i am normally a "all or nothing" type of girl. well, guess what? LIFE HAPPENS!!!!!! and i need to learn balance. so starting tomorrow posts will be more regular and more detail. i can't wait to share all my progress with you!!3 -
I've been doing good for the last two weeks. I've been off on and for the past 3 months with staying consistent. I didn't run when I got home from work last night like I should have, instead I ate and ate and ate....
This morning at work I've been eating Easter candy (easy access as my co-worker has it on her desk for anyone to eat). I went into the lunchroom for paper towel and a fork as I forgot to pack one. One of the lawyers was in there (I'm a paralegal and work at a law firm) and asked me if I had lost weight as was trying to loose weight. Why yes I have!!! I'm down about 12 pounds since mid-December. He's the first person to say anything! I haven't really noticed any change in the mirror, though my jeans are starting to feel a little looser.
I got back to my desk and tossed the other candies sitting on my desk in my lunch bag. I'm eating my nice lunch (chicken, boiled egg, raw carrot, orange and Made Good bar) and no more Easter candy today. That got me back on track!4 -
Yesterday I never made time for computer, therefore no JFT post. (I hate posting using my Android phone, such a pain.)
JFT F 3/31 ~ rainy, crap weather day & planned rest day
1) Move hourly / >7500 steps
2) Not sure of supper / net calories zero / 72+ oz. water
3) Laundry / dust 1st floor rooms / decorate for Easter / start grocery list for M or T / digital declutter / clear some papers / find hubby's life ins. info / LCEF / another ta-da?
4) Floss / retainers / pray
Completed my March MapMyWalk Challenge yesterday. The goal was to walk or run at least 72 miles in the month. I did 73.47 miles, intermingled with a few PT exercise days and snow shoveling days. Took rest days when I was out of town visiting parents or weather just too cold/windy & didn't wanna go LOL. Only forced to use treadmill one day & sad dog. Overall, happy dog and happy me.
100 days from now reminder: What I do today gets me where I want to be. [Feb. 1 - May 11] Day 59
About me:I'm Carmela

2023 Goals:1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be satisfied if I can get back down to 160# this yearWord for 2022-23: Tenacity ~ persistent determination; the mental strength to resist opposition, danger or hardship- Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
- Take measurements & log on MFP every month end ~ 1.31.23 ack! 2.28.23 not better but not worse
- Try new recipes now that I have the time
January: parsnip/potato mash; St. Louis gooey butter cake (Mom's bday) =
February: creamy bacon corn chowder (slow cooker); banana bread (using applesauce & oil); braised lamb shanks with lentils (slow cooker); apple cake (with buttermilk) =
January 1x6 days, 1x5 days, 2x4 days =
February 1x6 days, 2x5 days, 1x4 days =
March 1x6 days, 3x5 days- Walk dog 3-4 miles, treadmill when necessary in winter, weights/my home version of circuit & other x-training
- Continue PT (physical therapy) exercises to strengthen arthritic knees & hip flexor
January 48.14 miles
February 55.79 miles YTD 103.93 miles- In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km. Not the full challenge, but with knee issues early in year, I was happy to get this far.
- I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps =
- Registered for Seroogy's Valentine 5K on 2.4.23 ~ skipped 2023 due to frigid temps with wind chill around 0F... didn't want a repeat of overuse injury from last winter. In 2022, I had to cancel race due to inflammation in knees from overuse & arthritis (medico advised) from walking in another frigid 5K.
- Registered for Bellin 10K on 6.10.23 ~ 2022 first time in person since 2019; 2023 added 5K event.
- register for Packers 5K ~ date TBD
- register for Bellin Women's 5K ~ date TBD (1,000+ for all races in 2022)
- watch for other events to possibly add ~ learned of Pi Day race, but did not enter
- Excellent goal previous years, to be continued
- Visit parents 1-2 times each month, phone calls in between ~ they're in mid to late 80s and live 90 miles away
- Monthly contact with former colleagues/others in town, now that I'm retired
1.12.23 lunch w/ CH
2.11.23 ART Nite w/ PZ (supper, gallery, bar w/ live music)
- Made great progress on first floor of house in 2022, keep going

Hour commitment - going to airport in an hour. Ate a breakfast to get rid of some stuff in refrigerator. Now I won’t eat again until after 3pm or so.2

Goals for 3/30
- Tax appointment ✅
- Log all food ✅
- 40 oz of water ✅
- Crochet ❌
- Yoga ❌
- Go for a walk at Mt. Trashmore ✅
Lots of green check marks, but today was complete $***. Major problems with both work computers means I have to work over the weekend to give myself half a chance to meet my deadlines. Taxes ended up costing me way more money than anticipated. Burned my dinner and then dropped part of it on the floor. Haven’t done anything creative in ages.
Having a really hard time seeing my worth tonight. Guess I’ll just try and sleep it off since none of my other coping mechanisms are working.3
