I weigh everyday! I tried to get one of the kids to hide the scale once so I couldnt.. it wasnt a good situation at my house.. I panicked. I even went to my friends house to borrow hers.. but I think it was broken.. cause I was like 3lbs more on hers. Anyways long story short, two days later I found mine he burried it underneath his clothes in his dresser.. I shoulda figured it out sooner it was the only drawerer where the clothes were actually folded.0

I weigh myself every morning. I enter the weight into an app on my phone. There is a graph that I use to look at the dips and spikes and then reference it with MFP's diary.0

I weight my self maybe twice a week.0

I weigh myself every morning...0

Every time I pass the scale. I feel like I'm obsessed! I try not to worry about the fluctuations though.0

Everyday but going to start once a week!!0

I use to weigh myself everyday, multiple times. but I know i'm not going to lose two pounds in one day, so what's the point?
I weight myself once a week now. Every Monday. But I go to the doctor next week, so it'll be twice.0 -
I have the most useless scales ever, and it will only give me a ballpark figure of within 4 or 5 pounds, so there is no point doing it regularly. I try to have a look at them every few weeks or so.
As for how much you should weigh yourself, it depends on the individual. Some people get discouraged when seeing the small weight gains that may occur naturally from one day to the next even if you're on track with your long term weight loss goals. Others can just take that in their stride and get on with it. Daily makes sense for some people, weekly for others. It depends on the individual and how they react to the number that appears on their scales.0 -
I had a bad habit of stepping on the scale every morning. My husband yells at me to stop because I will get upset if I dont see the result I want. I need to hide the scale.0

when I get up, and right before I go to bed. Sounds like obsession and perhaps it was at one point, now it's just routine and often gives me a heads up as to foods to avoid (at least food combos) if I'm up a LOT at night, knowing you shed quite a bit while sleeping (between the body still doing it's calorie burning as normal and losing water which is also normal). I have a scale that has memory for up to 4 so I have one for night and one for morning......0

Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are doing any kind of strength training the scale is not the way to measure your success. I may weigh myself every other week or every three weeks just to make sure I am maintaining. The best way to measure is to take actual measurements of various body parts rather than get on a scale.0

I think you're only supposed to weigh yourself once a week, but I weigh myself about every other day....it keeps me motivated, and if the number goes up slightly I challenge myself to eat healthier or maybe walk/jog a little longer that day.0

TOO D*** OFTEN.
I wish I could wrap my head around the "The scale isn't the final judge".0 -
Used to weigh once a week now I do it at least 3 times since I started getting the b-vitamin shots. I get those 3 times a week and they weigh me every time. I weigh at home on Sunday's. I try to enter my weight on MFP only once a week.0

I work in a shipping warehouse and we have a 4'x4' 5000lbs scale. So it's really hard not to weigh myself multiple times a day. I think it helps me keep focused on eating healthy and keeping on track.0

Every morning. It has helped me to learn a lot about my body. I know how food and how much water I drink affects the scale. I've also learned about my normal fluctuations - which I think helps to relieve the "OMG! I GAINED A POUND!" freakouts that so many people have. You learn what is normal, so you don't fret about what you see as long as it is in the "normal" range for you.0

I weight myself everytime I go to Curves, which is about 3-4 times a week, but I think once a week is more of a true measure. We fluctuate throughout the day so weighing too often isn't helpful, I don't think. Just stay on track with your healthy goals.0

everyday! I can't do it only once a week because I used to have a tendency to stray off my path and this time around I am doing what i need to to continue with my weight loss. Eventually I might reduce it to 1 time a week when I get into maintenance mode but for now 1 x a day holds me accountable0

It varies a lot for me. This week, I weighed myself twice since I had a health screening today. Last time I weighed myself before this week was 3 weeks ago.
As other people have said, it really varies by person.
Daily (if you are consistent about when you weigh - first thing in the morning or last thing at night would seem to be the best for most people) can help motivate you, if you are on a high reduction diet (more than 2 lbs a week, should be under a doctor's supervision).
Weekly seems good for a lot of people, since it is long enough to smooth out most fluctuations, and it is long enough to see any changes. Again, for consistency, it should be at the same time - early morning before eating or exercising, or at night before going to bed when you aren't going to eat or exercise any more for the day.
Monthly, in my opinion, is too infrequent if you are trying to lose weight, but would be good for maintenance. I'm trying to get in the habit of checking weekly.0 -
here's a good post on scale addiction by my doc: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/traumatic-dieting/201109/do-you-suffer-scale-addiction0

I darent get back on mine cos I know its gone up..and it makes me panic if I see 12st or more I start getting thoughts like I cant eat today I'm too fat and stuff so I have to drink loads of water tablets, go to loo lots before I can get on when I think I maybe lighter.. like for example when monthly bloat goes off... but if I'm heavier than I thought I'm gutted and depressed all day.
I just seem to go up and down between same numbers and not getting any lower before the 6lb bloat goes back on.0 -
I try to weigh daily or every few days. If I wait a week, I try to "cram" healthy eating before my date with the scale. Once a day helps me know how I'm doing. I don't get upset if one or two days is high as long as the general trajectory is downward.0

Twice a week.0

I've managed to keep it to only once a week. Those "daily fluctuations" can swing both ways based on water retention etc. I don't want to see halfway through the week that I've lost two pounds only to have it say I've only lost one on my weigh-in day when I know I've exercised and not eaten more than my allotted calories. Just easier for me that way.0

I would never weigh myself if it were not for the challenges that I am currently in and have to do weekly weigh ins....So I now weigh once a week....the more important weight loss to me is inches and I measure myself once a week as well but I usually just go by the way my clothes feel and that tells me how well I am doing...DO NOT LIVE BY THE SCALE.....you will get really frustrated and this will not help your weight loss program.0

Wow...I feel for everyone who is weighing in so often...That can really mess with your head, and your weight loss...You should really limit it to once a week, the same time, same day, in the same way.
I started this doing the same as all of you trying to weigh in all the time to see a change and it caused me endless depression...Now that I do it only once a week I can deal with the changes better. If I gain, or lose, I adjust with it.
I have been doing this for 190+ days and have lost 67 lbs and believe me when I say the scale can truly be your worst enemy if you use it too often. I have had a month go by with no change in my weight and then I will weigh in and have a loss of 5-8 lbs...I'm not saying this will happen for everyone but you have to look at this from a long term perspective and not a short term. This is truly a life change, and seeing all those ups and downs over a few days, as i can attest, just messes with your head way to much.
It shouldn't just be about the lbs, they are important...but it's also about the way you feel, how your clothes fit, your energy, etc...My weight loss is good but the drop of 2 pants sizes and the energy increases I feel are the real wins! Sorry for being preachy, I really wish you all the best, and hope you all have continued success!0 -
Twice a day once when I wake up and once before I go to bed, it keeps me in check0

I use to weigh myself every month or two!! sometimes not even at all B.c I hated the scale. However, the longer I waited to weigh myself, the more weight I gained (over 30 lbs). So now I have limited my self to twice a month! EVERY 2nd MONDAY!!! I think if we become obsessed with the scale it will make the chances of us losing weight slim... B.c it starts to become a job and you are constantly thinking about it, triggers negative emotions if u are not where you want to be, and in the end it will take out ANY joy in losing weight & reaching your goal. I think ONCE A WEEK IS GREAT, EVEN TWICE A MONTH! But I would say no more than that!0

Once a week. And I try to do it at the same time every week. Since weight fluctuates so much on a daily basis, I figure it's best not to drive myself batty weighing every chance I get.0

I weigh myself every day, sometimes twice a day. I have even given my mum the scales to look after to stop me doing it but I went and go them back after a couple of days. I hate not knowing if I have gained or lost. It does become an obsession. My daughter tells me off frequently as she knows its not good as your weight fluctuates during the week and it can be off putting to know you have gained 2lbs but then 2 days later they have gone again.0
